Hi there, I'm new to the site. I was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis of the hip at the end of 2010 even though I am only 43.
I have a 7 year old boy who was almost 3 months premature and now my husband and I are considering having another baby. We are aware of the risks involved espcially now that we are both older but I also wanted to know how this will effect my hip during pregnancy.
Thanks
K

    Hi K

I can't answer from experience, but would feel that the two consultants would communicate together to help you if you want another child. I have afriend who is a wheelchair user and when she got pregnant they were REALLY helpful

Worst case scenario -they might advise a ceasarian??? Would that worry you??

    Love

Hi there, I have had osteoarthritis in my hips since birth with it gradually getting worse as I get older. I was advised not to have children as they didnt know how my hips would cope with the added weight etc. I decided to take the chance and had no problems at all during my pregnancy, the pain in my hips did not get any worse even at the end of the pregnancy. The only problem I had was that I couldnt have natural childbirth but that didnt worry me. My son is now 18 years old and I am so happy that I didnt take the doctors advice. Hope this helps xx
    Big Hugs

I like you have OA in my hips and also would like more children. I have been suffering with this pain for 9 years prior to diagnosis. I have two children and found first fine second caused some pain which they diagnosed as SPD. But now diagnosed I know it wasn't SPD. It was sore but manageable. I am concerned about the effects of further pregnancies though.
