Naproxen Seems to be Working

I started on Naproxen on Saturday and I am already starting to see a small difference, there is some shape to my knee, small but noticable.

My consultant did say that it would take a few weeks for me to start noticing a difference to the inflamation, but I am already noticing a difference within a couple of days.

Hopefully I can continue to take these as well as the Meth and be okay, without having to get any injections! Whoohoo!

Things are looking up, given the awful flare that I had previously that lasted for 4 weeks.

I'm taking Naproxen too at the moment.....and I'm pretty useless in the morning but an hour after taking the first dose I can actually get things done (like hold a toothbrush!!).

I'm sure you know the dangers about taking them long term though? The smallest effective dose for the shortest time possible......

Of course having arthritis doesn't lend itself to playing by those rules eh!?

Good news. I'm so pleased about that. I took Naproxen for years and it worked well for me.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

    Hi Debra
Glad the naproxen is working for you......I've been taking it {changed from diclofenic} for about month now and there is no doubt ....after I take it I can begin to see the difference or should I say FEEL the difference

I Ome real bad days last week and the doc put me up to naproxen. I have yet to take it but looking here sound promising :).

I don't like to take my pain killers unless I am practically on my death bed as I am always worried about addiction or damaging side effects etc. But have been taking them more frequently recently.

    Hi
I dont like taking painkillers either.....you read and hear so much about addiction etc I would rather try and cope....I say that and now I'm on motphine {Oromorph} So I suppose it depends how bad your pain is....mine was so bad that i resorted to this

Naproxen is more an anti-inflammatory than a painkiller but as it reduces inflammation, in turn I guess it reduces pain

I don't like taking them either, in the long run they do more harm than good but right now I can barely function without them so unfortunately they're a necessary evil until I get on a DMARD that works.

Yes, Naproxen isn't a painkiller, its anti inflammtory.

The only other thing I take is Meth.

I don't take any other painkillers at all.
