Hey........

Sorry for being a big girl's blouse here but has anyone else had EXTREME muscle pain after getting the pneumonia jab? The nurse said my arm may be a little sore the next day but it was actually the day after that the real pain started. Have been up since 3am as the pain is so excruciating I can't sleep!

So bad in fact that I called NHS Direct for advice only to be told it was probably inflammation in the muscle (like I don't have enough of that already with my flaring arthritis!).

I'm getting a little tired of doing things or taking things that are meant to help me but are actually making me sick and increasing my pain levels almost intolerably!

Booooo!

Hi Keith, sorry you are having problems after this jab, I myself didn't but the long term benefits outweigh what you're suffering now, as I was told by the nurse when I had mine done, if you got pneumonia it would be very serious so the pain now is worth it. I'm not being unsympathetic just practical, but I do understand the pain as I had this after swine flu jab (as well as lots of vomiting), it took quite a while to go away. I don't have any practical advice about easing it but someone else may come along who does. Wishing you all the best

Aww Keith believe you me the benefits of the pneumonia "objection" far outweigh the "agony Ivy" bit of it

Four years or so ago at our surgery it wasn't routinely offered to "compromised" patients, (i.e. asthma, cancer, RA patients on heavy meds etc) To be truthfull we didn't even realise it was available on request.

My Stu, who's very asthmatic, was whipped into the hos with all bells and whistles blaring. Jolly good job it's only half a mile away! Pneumonia diagnosed. I was called in the middle of the night the next day as they thought he might not make it   Wired up to every device known to man he spent a week in ITU and then a week in the medical ward where there were 4 16 - 25 years old patients, two of whom he already knew, all with pneumonia.

I hope I never hear you whinge about a pneumonia injection again. It could save your life and Stu and I are first in the queue now the surgery is really on the ball advertising the availability of the jab 8)

Give it a good rub and slap some arnica on it or summink

Hey I'm fully aware that getting pneumonia is no picnic in the park, hence me being all wise & preventative by getting the jab.........but seriously, the lady who did it must be a part time butcher as the pain in my arm right now is off the scale. Not even my co-codamol is touching it.

I'm obviously a big sissy

    Hi keith

It is a few years ago since I had that jab and I had it at the same time as the flu jab. I do know that every time I have the flu jab my arm hurts for a week after.(its ok on the day but after that, wham) I dont take pain killers though, perhaps mine is different, I think it is just like a bruise that you can not see and achey. And i can not lay on it either.

I hope your arm calms down soon.

Keith, I am the same i have had the Pneumonia Jab and I have my yearly flu jabs and the swine flu one last year twice and each time my arm really hurts i get a red patch which grows to cover a large portion of my arm. one year it had come up before i even got to the car, after having the jab.
It is dificult but we have not choice really we either put up with it or take a chance so we have to put up with.

My hubby has to have the Jab now beacuse of the swine flu risk to me our surgery make your close relatives (living with you) have it done as well and this year the sister jabbed him and he said it really hurt for a couple of days(he had a steriod injection in his foot and he said he didn't feel it so it wasn't him being a wuss.)

I think you are being too hard on yourself with all the other pain any extra ones are a big deal. I hope it is feeling better soon.
