Cataracts

Hi all, I know this isn't really arthritis related but just wanted to let you know I went to the hospital today, turns out I have cataracts in both eyes (bit of a shock) they both need operating on, first in about 18 weeks, but the good news is when done I (hopefully) won't need to wear glasses anymore, only for reading, will be a bit weird after wearing them since age 17(now 57), also I'll get to choose cool funky singlasses instead of prescription ones woo-hoo 8)
Sue x
By the way doc said they could've been caused by steroid injections I've had in last 6 years as never had any problems before apart from being shortsighted. So may be something for others to check on. x

You'll be so delighted Sue when you've had the cataracts done. It'll make the world of difference to you
The Doc's quite right, steroids can cause cataracts and in the case of my OH the surgeon said that his cataracts were definitely caused by steroids. However he had taken a continuous dose over a period of 35 years so that wasn't surprising!!0 -
Hi Sue
Its not a big thing.......I've had both of mine done
I originally wore glasses for reading and glasse for driving......still need them for reading {or cheking prices on clothes etc when I'm shopping....most important that one}
Not so sure about you being delighted when they are done
Its true....I couldnt belive how green the grass was and how clear the TV was etc BUT when I looked in the mirror ...the amount of wrinkles I saw!!!!!!! :eek: :eek: My daughter would have been 26 or 27 and son 1 year older when I had mine done...and I remember saying :eek: :eek: Look at all those wrinkles :eek: and my daughter saying.....
Mam you are only seeing what the rest of us have been seeing for years So sympathetic
Seriously...you will see a big difference Sue
Love
