From AC FAQ's
"The links between arthritis and the weather are inconclusive. There is no overwhelming evidence to support this and information has been anecdotal and subjective. Many people with arthritis say that their joints ache before a storm, and, according to experts, this is due to a drop in pressure and a rise in the humidity causing pain and stiffness in the joints. However, a change in the weather will not cause arthritis, but can worsen the symptoms."

I do think the weather as alot to do with it..as for the last couple of days I have had nothing but aches and pains..last night was hell in bed and my knees are no better today, its tipping it down outside..I dont like taking the 30/500 co-codamol but today i think i will have no choice (they send me high and i am asleep within an hour)..then wake up grumpy0

I seem to react to weather, more when it's wet and damp. This morning I have woken up with a really bad back, just wandering when I can take some more tabs, and probably go stronger, not even tramadol has worked. I do hope you get yours under control today, wishing you to feel better.

it could partly be you have been doing to much because of being pain free but change of air pressure does for me as well stiff and pain are made so much worse good luck hope it only weather but slow down a bit as well just incase valval0

I definately think the weather affects my arthritis. When its cold or rainy my joints ache a bit more than usual. Hope you feel a bit better soon Mig.

Hi Mig,
i know there is no conclusive proof it is weather effected but a lot of us think it is.......
There is some evidence that the thing the barometer measures (got brain failure there I am afraid... and I say it like its usual ) is presure and might be able to effect the fluid.....
May not be substantiated but I live in a very damp climate... its very damp, even the cold is wet! 2 of my consultants have said over and over I would be better in a drier climate....
Unsubstantiated or not i reckon the weather does effect mine to some degree here and there......
I was just wondering what anti inflammatories they have you on? It might be they could change/ up the dose to see-if it helped you a bit more? Cris x0 -
hi skezier,at the moment i am on naproxen 500mg one tablet twice a day.mig0

I am definitely achier today in both knees and hips, it started last night. Getting stabbing pains in them too.
I asked the rheumy about being affected by the weather and she also said it was inconclusive but that a lot of people reported being affected by a combination of cold and damp weather.
There are also stories of people moving to warmer and drier climates (ie Spain) and saying they are a lot better for it.
