We seem to be split 50-50 as to having the side effects and I have been struggling since October. Well a few weeks ago I by chance got the answer. I decided to split the dose so I had 3 tabs about 9pm and my beloved decided he fancied a chip butty at about 10 so as it seemed rude not to partake in the feast I enjoyed my chip butty and then just before bed took the next 3 tabs. Next day almost fine and best of all my tea didn’t taste as if it had been strained through iron filings!!!
So we have carried on having the ritual of chip butty’s ever since and it works for me. Well most weeks anyway. I also leave out the diclo’s for at least a day which also helped. I have since increase the mtx to 17.5 but carried on with 3 before and 4 after system.
So the great British cuisine of starch wrapped around starch has come up trumps for me. And the French say we are rubbish cooks, ha what do they know!

Hiya, I'm glad you found something that worked for you. I'm on 20mg and I was taking one 10mg tablet at lunchtime and the other in the evening but I found I still had a few problems the next day, stomach churning and feeling a bit 'yucky' so now I take one tablet on tuesday lunchtime and one on wednesday and that works with no side effects, I take them after food. Just thought I'd let you know in case you have further problems or it might help someone else. It was suggested to me by a consultant so I know it's ok to do it. Good luck with the chip butties, long may they help you

Well gang round at mine for 10 tonight bring your own plonk although some of us will be on the wagon.

Yes Lynn, veggie oil and if you insist you can go continental with mayo instead of daddies sauce.

Sue, I have just found out after admitting that I have spilt the dose that it is fine to have half in the morning and the rest in the evening! When I get up to the dreaded 20mg I think I might try your way over two days, but I will carry on with the pommes frites as Lynn would say, just to make sure understand. I think mtx and sickness must be the most looked up on the search button. I just wish there was more information out there as I have had a rotten ride on it since October. Thanks for the tip.

    Toni,
Well I had the opposite reaction to Hydroxy but the mtx has cancelled that one out!

Well Gerri, you have to try these things don’t you and it is in the aid of medical science after all. :P

Hi Ron, I think it’s better to be safe than sorry. So if you can force a chip butty down I think it might be for the best. Eh? I hope your ankle is steadily improving.

Crikey, Ironic, I think if I had a chip butty before bed I'd never sleep with or without the MTX. Luckily my stomach's OK with it. Prefer a liquid nightcap.

    Hi I,

Never thought to do that..... as you might remeber mtx and I don't exactly get on....

The jabs are much better than the tablets but they still make me feel sick... so... next week I shall try the chips... kinda like that idea

You want a pig to go with them....

    Or a bullock or 2.....

not forgetting a grotty Sid and just cus its you how about a manky drake

Leaving ((((( ))))) and see you for chip buttie later  Love Cris xx

    Hey Ironic

Think I will definitely have to give the chip butty thing a go on "meth day" next week! Maybe we could all synchronise our meth days and have a weekly chip butty fest?!

Thanks for the tip and really hope that the higher dose meth helps.

Hi Sticky, well I am a night owl by nature so I do tend to wander the halls anyway. Like your thinking though, a wee snifter is always welcome.

Toni. The rheumy said diclo’s are the usual suspect but it is definitely the Hydroxy that is the culprit with me.

Hi Cris, well it worked last night and I have not felt too bad apart from the mtx fog day today. Hey it’s well worth the try, my brother asked if it would work eating different things instead...Bless. Anyway I have sent him back to his own planet now. I wonder if we are related at times.

Right so I now have a Sid, bully and drakie coming for dinner. A pig! What Pig? Where did he appear from?? Not a bore I hope can’t be doing with a bore at the table.

    Hi Tilly,
Right Tuesdays are best for me, then the weekend small allowance of plonk can be supped.
