Hi

Ive been dieting as some may or may not know...Started off at 110kilograms and currently at 100kilograms and as someone pointed out to me thats nearly a stone and a half - I didnt think it had been that much myself....But am now at the stage where still dieting, most days do without bread, have aldi cereal same as specail k followed by a cup of tea, lunch is weight watchers soup and cup of tea with yogurt or go ahead bar.....I may sometimes have a banana before tea at 7 which is normally chicken and veg then fruit with soya yogurt at 9pm......I just am stuck at this 100 mark and want so bad to get past it....I do walk every day for 30mins and go to swimming, aqua exercises and gym once a week so im not idle for long periods.....
Its just dead frustrating at moment, also do execises in afternoon with dumbells and waist turns.....So im doing all i can as far as i can with my stoopid leg that i cant to get down to about 92kilograms for TKR.....

GRR...

    Hi elaine

well done for keeping up with your diet and exercise, I am sure that with perceverance you will get to your target. I have a friend who lost a lot of weight in the first month and has now slowed down, she goes to zumba classes and diets too.

Perhaps you are now losing inches instead of the pounds at the moment, with all the exercise you do and you could also be building up muscle, which must be a good thing for your joints but muscle weighs heavy I think.

Keep it up elaine you are doing so well. (wish i could lose a little)

    HI Julie

I just wish could get on the scales and it would be at least at 99, would be happy am moving more in right direction!! My concern is my trainer at leisure centre who may be giving me exercises that may put weight on so am going to another gym to get another assessment....
My clothes are looser but still got some way to go, read on net that if you did 30mins exercise daily you should lose 10kilo's..yes please!!

    Hope youre keeping well?

    Hi Elaine

I think similar to Julie that with all your good works at the gym you are developing muscle instead of fat and muscle weighs more than fat. If your clothes are getting looser then you are most definately going in the right direction.

    Hi Elaine

Well done with your weight loss so far, you are doing really well. I lost two stone a few years ago and like yourself I went through a stage when it seemed like I was at a stand still but the weight does start to come off again if you persevere. Just keep up the good work.

    HI Val

Now this is the thing...Im still as restricted mobility wise, the weight reduction hasnt made a difference...I think that only applies if you lose 5,6,7 or 8 stone but not 1.5...Others ask me do i feel better in myself and i say no cos there is no dramatic difference and my knee is so buggered i struggle with my daily walks more now than before!!!7
    Im still sticking to it!!

I think you are doing remarkably well, Elaine, no doubt about that. You are changing your lifestyle at a sensible rate, losing the weight in an appropriate way and establishing new eating habits that will not only serve you well now but will also help greatly in your recovery from surgery. It does take time when done properly, and yes muscle weighs more than fat: how about taking a series of photos of yourself, say one a month, so you can see the actual physical changes that are happening? When you are in the middle of it all it is hard to tell what has altered from week to week, but you stick at it my girl, you are doing so well. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

    HI DD

Yeah I mean I supose others can see a difference and a photo every month or so may be helpful....I suppose when you see people like Pauline Quirke (ive lost 7 stone - yes but you were drinking milkshakes, eating bars and consuming less than 500 cals a day, me id never be off the loo with that, tried slimfast years ago) and Dawn French (ive lost 4 stone - have you Dawn? But she who claimed at her heaviest she was a size 20, yeah right in your dreams)...Well they annoy me cos i havent got a personal, live in flipping trainer or the money to buy whatever they want to boost their diet...
I guess I beat myself up when it slows down (the weight loss) but then again I am terrified of the op too....I want this year to end with me getting news of a TKR date.....

    Hi Elaine

All these celebrities lose loads of weight in a short period of time and as you say, have money for personal trainers and specialised diets but when a person loses weight this way it usually goes back on fairly quickly as its not a realistic lifestyle. I know it doesnt feel like it at the moment but you are doing things the right way and it will be easy for you to maintain your weight loss in the long run. Slow and steady wins the race, please dont give up. You are doing such a good job and I hope that you reach your goal and are able to get your TKR.

    HI Jean

I know im doing it the right way it just bugs me these celebs who have been the size of a house for decades and done nothing about it, I mean Quirke got her hip replaced and said the weight hadnt made any difference to it wearing away and her getting the privately paid surgery.....You shouldnt be allowed it if you are too fat cos if you are then sorry but there is a reason why you put on weifght and one of those reasons is you put too much food in your gob!!! No excuses!!!
