Bath plug solutions, please

So I’ve got the new bath hoist. It’s basically the great-grandchild of the previous one but, thanks to the wonders of modern technology, is now all-electric so no compressor needed. This means I am now working my way slowly back to the dizzy heights of independent bathing.

The one thing holding me up is the plug. Or maybe the plughole. My little arms don’t reach so far down. Mr SW is currently working on the idea of attaching the plug to some form of stick which I guess would work OK except I’d have to avoid kicking the stick once in.

Does anyone have a better idea?

Get the lovely Mr SW to insert plug into hole, fill bath, then leave you in all your glory to bathe in asses milk or whatever your chosen unguent may be. Once you are out of the bath and dried etc he can then return and unplug to release said unguent. An alternative to this is to attach the plug to a very long chain (or one, otr two or maybe even three of those stretchy plastic key chains) so said chain can be looped around summat closer to you so all you have to do is pull. Any help? DD

    Sticky

l agree with DD (! l DOOOOO honest  )

A long chain is best thing in this situation and it needs to be looped in sucha position taht you can either reach it easily OR......with your pick up stick!

    Have a lovely lovely bath

Sorry ticky...no different replies....I thought the same thing when I read your post  Mr H puts the plug in and leaves me to it and then sorts it out afterwards.

Actually, it's not just getting it out, it's getting it in too. I've got greedy. I want total independence. I want to be able to have a bath whenever I want (when the asses milk is available of course, DD, though first catching my **** might be a little problematic) with no plug putter inner/taker outer whatever. It will happen. Watch this space.

Hileena - I've now gone from Sticky to Stocky to Ticky!!! Just let me know which you prefer and I'll change it by deed poll. (Hope you're continuing to improve, by the way.)

this an interesting one as it will be difficult with most things to put plug in getting it straight would be a right pain you need a bit of plastic pipe that slides down chain just smaller than plug then you can use it to push down if enough lenth of chain you can then bring tubeing up and place on bit near taps does that make any sence would be out of way but you will need long bit of chain val

    Hi sticky

The long handle/stick is a good idea but as you say it will probably get in the way.
My plug is shaped as a lighthouse and that gets in the way.(used with grabber)

I have been sat pondering as I do (some folk call it day dreaming) and thought :!: what about a childs dummy....(don't laugh just yet I am serious  ) they normally have a loopy handle.....take the teat off, file it down and stick on to plug....then use grabber to put it in bath and pull it out.

    Enjoy your bath

    Hi Sticky..

I have a solution i use myself and it works.. honest lol..
My plug is on a long chain.. when i start running the bath i dangle the plug down over the hole and the water kind of sucks the plug in, i then twirl chain round taps and unplug at the end..wa la

Is there some connection between the arthritis gene and the genius gene (which failed in my case)? What an ingenius bunch you are!

I kept wondering why people were concentrating on getting the plug out, which isn't a huge problem as I can hook it out with my late Dad's curved, multi-purpose walking stick handle (aka lever tap puller onner and pusher offer). Then I read Traluvie's post which made me realise that a metal plug would, indeed, drop into the plughole and stay there. And we've spent ages today in Homebase (Such fun!) looking at rubbery ones like the one we have and trying to work out a solution. Thank you one and all.

Julie - I'm sorry but you're instruction came too late. I was already laughing. Still am. I suspect you & I got our brain cells from the same source. Now how do I nick my grandson's dummy?

Hileena - Good luck with the scan result.

I know exactly what you mean about your independence SW.

I just wondered why there are not more lady enturprenuers? If you people (all women) get together around a board table I bet you would come up with ideas that would make Sir Alan Sugar look like a real pratt.

SW when you have perfected your protoytpe will you post it on the 'simple ideas' thread sounds like it will be a gem.

Alas, Lululu, I fear my 'prototype', as and when MR SW gets round to it, will be a bogstandard metal plug which I can hopefully dangle into position, bought from anywhere other than our local Homebase which only had the rubberised variety. The problem with the latter is, they go so far then stick.

As for entrepreneurs - it's not the ideas we lack, it's the money to patent them. Sponsorship anyone?
