Hi lavendarlady
I have no real suggestions I am sorry, and I know you have said you use sun cream.....have you tried Complete sun block cream? The highest possible factor? or what about sudacrem (sp)
Hope someone else comes along soon with a suggestion.

I cannot remember what meds you are on but it's possible that one of them could be making your skin much more photosensitive. I go out in the sun swathed from head to foot, not much fun but the pay off is no meth rash so it's worth it. If meds are not the root cause then I think the best thing you can do is keep it covered, perhaps with just a towelling wrist band, that might help to protect it. I wish you well. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I was warned, after my first two TKRs to be very careful about not getting the scar in sunshine. Even under trousers I could feel it burning for a long time. In really hot sun (90F) I can still feel the 2 yr old one under trousers and in the shade. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi,
I have really sensitive skin anyway, and for years couldn’t figure out why I got itchy in the sun. My GP pointed out it’s the parabens in the suncream, which most suncreams have, and this means if you have sensitive skin (such as where your scar is) you are far more likely to get the itches from it. I have since discovered the only mainstream suncream suitable is P*z Bu*n Allergy, which racks up at £17 a bottle so I always stock up on BOGOF deals! But a little goes a long way, especially with the spray version, and you can get it in a really high SPF, and it also sinks in without being greasy. It’s the only suncream I wear now, and am amazed at the lack of itchiness! (Although all this talk about being itchy is making me THINK I’m itchy... *scratch scratch scratch*)
Hope this might help!
