Shoulder pain

Hi again,
I've been having real pains in my shoulders for years and it's getting worse. Used to be a sharp pain that would keep me awake at night. My shoulders clunk, very loudly and it's sore. My right shoulder is the worst. It's now affecting me when I iron, make the tea etc. but today, it cracked when I (very lightly) turned my steering wheel! I've asked dr for xrays but was refused as 'it'll only show you what you know already'
Anyone else can get this? Should I keep annoying the drs?

I get very painful shoulders as well, it radiates down my arms and movement is restricted. The bone man said to go and get some painkillers from my GP but I have never found anything that touches the pain.
I have been to the surgery with other complaints, they just get added to the list! So, here I sit, waiting. It would be nice to have an answer and a cure but they aren't out there.0 -
Hiya,
I know, it's c**p isn't it? I'm taking my paracetamol and it's not hitting the pain at all-or the amytriptilline.I've now got alot of pain going into my wrist.
I'm tired of being told to just get on with it. My dr said 'you can't get a shoulder replacement you know!'-so that's it-away you go dear
I've been waiting nearly 6wks for my orthpaedic appt. to come through and I'm hoping he/she will be able to help.

Sorry to hear that you are suffering like this. I have got the shoulder problem too but again no one seems interested investigating it. My doctor has basically said that there is nothing more that he can do for me (and without actually saying it 'why dont you just take your pills and leave me alone).
I have got appointments with physio and pain clinic so hopefully they will be able to look into it more and help me.
Good luck with trying to find out what is happeningJaki0 -
Hi magenta,
I've had shoulder pain in my left shoulder for 2 yrs. All my gp said it was wear and tear and old age creeping up on me and just to keep it moving. I was in so much pain I couldn't lift any thing and typing and writing was difficult ( I'm left handed ) after nearly a year I went back to gp and lucky for me a locum was in and he was brilliant, said he had the same problem with his and sent me for an xray and arranged physio. After 6 mths of painful physio they realised it wasn't getting rid of the pain so sent me to a consultant. He said straight away I had bone spurs on my shoulder that was rubbing on the tendons which was causing the pain and within 2 wks had an arthroscopy to remove them. It was only 6 wks ago but that horrid pain has gone and I have full use of my arm and hand again, Still get some discomfort but was told that will settle down within 3 mths.(here's hoping ) Perhaps thats what you have, I hope you find an answer and then get treatment for it. If I hadn't seen that locum I'm sure I would still be in terrible pain, ask to see a differant gp, they might be a little more understanding. Good luck Jackie0 -
Thanks,
It's a horrible pain that unfortunately hurts no matter what I do.
I'm waiting for an orthopaedic appt. (neck probs) but hoping they'll look at my shoulders too. Only problem is I've been waiting nearly 2mths for referral letter-think I'm going to have to call surgery to make sure.
Thanks,
Eileen xx0
