Free bus pass

I think I am eligible to received a bus pass as I have "a disability or permanent injury which has substantial and long term adverse effect on ability to walk." I don't receive high rate mobility DLA but I get a pass if I can provide evidence that my walking ability is "long term and substantially impaired". Is it likely that a person with RA would be eligible under this criteria?
Thanks in advance.

Hi starburst
Sorry I cant help on this one, I get a bus pass because i am 61, but fewer and fewer places are accepting them now.
I do hope someone comes along very soon ,I will be interested to see what they have to say.Love

I have got a bus pass because of my OA and I am 40 but I have been receiving higher rate DLA.
I have just had a look on my county website and these are the things required to prove you are disabled, which I think are national but it is worth checking for your area:
Hampshire County Council Adult Services Yellow Disabilities Registration Card or number
Hampshire County Council Children's Services Yellow Disabilities Registration Card or number
Hampshire County Council Blue Badge or number
award letter for any Attendance Allowance
award letter for the Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance
award letter for a War Pensioners Mobility Allowance
award letter for guaranteed income payment for tariff levels 1 - 8 under the 2005 Armed Forces Compensation Scheme
letter from the DVLA giving notice of long term refusal or withdrawal of driving licence on medical grounds (misuse of alcohol or drugs are not included under this scheme)
a healthcare professional's report e.g. physiotherapist, podiatrist, nurse etc. containing their contact detailsJaki0 -
Thanks both of you.
One specific criteria for my county is:
A disability or permanent injury which has substantial and long term adverse effect on ability to walk.
And the evidence I would have to provide is evidence that my walking ability is "long term and substantially impaired".0 -
Hi
Perhaps a doctors letter to provide medical evidence of your mobility problems would be all that is needed, I think the councils do still take the doctors advice unlike other companies ie A**S!
