... meant to see him this month and not due to see rheumy nurse til October. Big dose of steroids have worn off and the Rituximab is yet to kick in. Have spoken to rheumy nurse and explained that I'm struggling and in pain. She has made a note of it (I feel so much better for that!!). I spend a while trying to get wedding rings onto my finger then all evening trying to get them off again as my hands are swollen. My feet and ankles are killing me and are mega swollen. By the end of the day I can barely walk. On the plus side my sciatica shooting pain has been replaced with a dull ache - improvement?
An appt is obviously not going to be forthcoming. Any ideas of what I can do?

Sorry you are having to wait so long to see the consultant. Not sure if it would do any good but have you spoken to the GP and asked if he can push for an urgent appointment for you. If you are able to go at the drop of a hat and you dont have too many commitments then you could try talking to his secretary and see if there are any cancellation appointments that you might be able to take as you want to get this sorted. Usually I have found the secretaries to be very helpful if you explain the predicament to them.
Hope something is sorted soon for youJaki0 -
I would also recommend speaking to your GP. Would you be able to get an appt with the rheumy nurse before October? May be better than nothing. Such a tricky situation and I'm sorry you're in so much pain. x0

What about the consultants secretary.....any chance of her doing anything??? even if its keeping an eye open for a cancellation.
I was supposed to see the back specialist last year and it wasnt forthcoming so I rang his secretary up just to make sure he had got the letter from the orthopaedic surgeon....she said they were running late with appointments....I chatted to her for a while.....general chit chat and told her I was in a lot of pain and in the middle of this she said hold on a minute. Came back and offered me an appointment the next week.
I said How did you do that??? she just laughed and said I always keep a couple of dates free incase i need them for someone :?: :?: All i did was chat to her for a while.....did tell her i was in a lot of pain and couldnt have my other hip done until my back was looked at but we also talked about her 2 children etc and theirs schools
Love
