Hello! Arrived home yesterday, about 6.30pm after a long and very tiring journey from beautiful Devon; Hope Cove to be exact. We took so long as we made lots of stops for me to 'stretch my legs' and my husband to have a bit of a break from all that driving.
We had a lovely time and the weather was very good, hot, but not too hot and no rain!!!
The hotel was a nice one and they catered for all guests very well especially, people with disabilities, although it was an ordinary hotel, not advertised as anything special at all. Treating everyone with discretion and yet quite a lot of attention. The Manager/Owner was friendly and seemed to enjoy the company of the guests without being pushy. He seemed to know when to help people and when to stand back, even when people had to struggle. It was nice to see disabled guests treated no differently than the other guests, yet being helpful when needed. They heard my husband mention that he was diabetic and would'nt have a sweet, and the senior waiteress came over and told him that the chief was happy to offer a specially devised menu for 'people who required it' all done very discreatly.
Anyway, I won't go on. Just to say we had a lovely time!

Hi Sue
So glad you and hubby had a good time. The hotel sounds really nice and the people there as well. It does mean so much when you hit apon a hotel which knows how to treat their guests.

I'd not thought of that, I should do it, as I'm only too quick to complain when things are not as they should be. Sue0 -

Hi, Yes, of course I missed you all and wished I could have taken everyone in my case, but my husband thought I'd packed too much as it was. Why can't men understand that you need jumpers and jackets in case it's cold anarak in case its wet, thin tops and skirts in case its hot and of course shoes that go with everything, even if when you come to put them on, find that they have shrunk in widith and length, but the heels have grown too high to walk in and so thats why they stayed in the wardrobe....
Seriously, I am awful, if I took the things I'd planned to take in the first place, it would be fine, but at the last moment some mad demon creeps into me and whispers in my ear, about all the things I should take 'just in case'!!! :oops:0 -
Hi sue
welcome back and I am really pleased you had a lovely holiday.
The hotel you stayed at sounds really nice, and it's good that the staff were helpful too.
Take care

Hey woodbon, it's lovely to have you back. A packing tip: pack what you would ideally take, then remove half of it and you will have enough to see you through. It was thus I managed a fortnight with just three pairs of shoes, two skirts, a few tops, two pairs of trousers, one cardigan, one gilet and one rain jacket. I bought a fair few things when we were away however which helped! The Clarks Shopping Village in Street was an absolute joy (well, it was for Mrs DD!)
The hotel sounds very good indeed so yes, post a positive revue somewhere - and send them a card to say thank you. We always go self-catering, I am treated to a fair few dinners out and the last flat we rented was above a wine bar - now how cool was that? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Hi Sue
I'm like you.........take things "in case I need them" and usually dont
Even the rucksack on the back of my scooter ...supposed to be there to carry bits and pieces of shopping in it.........but there are quite a few things there "Just incase I need them" and thats not going away either
Love
