Hi all, hope you're all as well as can be. I still don't know when my sister-in-laws funeral will be as they don't have a cause of death yet. My step-daughter has gone to her half brothers funeral today and she only has 3 days to go before her baby is due, so hopefully we'll have some good news soon. I was wondering what people with fibro find is the best pain medication for it. Last night because of the heat the whole of my left side was in tremendous pain from it, luckily it's never been that bad before, then to top it off when it started raining the RA in my feet and ankles joined in then the OA in my lower back so I didn't get much sleep last night, sometimes these horrible illnesses really get you down. I need something nice to cheer me up, perhaps a glass of wine and some chocolate, any other suggestions gratefully received!!!

Gosh Sue  you've had an awful lot going on....

I don't have Fibro so can't offer advice on what meds are effective, sorry  ....but a glass of wine, some chocolate sounds good.....and maybe someone else doing all the cooking/ cleaning might ease your pain and tiredness?.

I hope family life gets a bit easier.......the birth of a little one will surely bring lots of joy.

    thinking of you...

I can't help either but I echo the sentiments in Iris' post 100%. I am so sorry that life has been so rough for you and your family, I hope that the birth can bring some joy and a little easing of spirits to all. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

    Hi Sue,

I also echo Iris but I can help with the meds.

I know so well that pain and they do talk about fibro but i wont have it so they only smile when they talk about it

I was already on tramadol and pregabalin and the rumo said those are the two thing best to help with fibro so 'if' I did have it it was already covered. He winked and smiled that time so I do know what it is just for some reason wont have it.

Hang in there flower and bad days with the oa and the ra as well.... I just try and find something that doesn't hurt and stay there cus they really do get to you.

They sometimes use the gabapentin's but the pregabs are the next generation and are much better so my rumo put me on them without going the gabs route first.

i don't have ra I have the pa but its the oa that reduces me to tears I think

Leaving a ((( ))) and a hope you will soon have the new arrival. Cris x

    Hi, Sorry your suffering.
i have fibro plus OA & all the other things thrown in with it
As Cris say fibro is usually treated with Pregabalins or gabapentins (Have to agree pregabs are the best out of the 2)They block the nerve pain. I have slow rerlease & normal tramadols, dicofenacs, paracetomols, amtripylines (To help with relaxing the muscles & aids sleep) & i have Oramorph as a back up painkiller.
I too have found this week bad, its been so hot here at night i ended up straining the shoulders & neck in my sleep. Think it was throwing off then grabbing the quilt back over me that did it  I have some analgesic cream with ive been rubbing in at night & that helps too.
My meds were changed when i saw the pain clinic & i recently had trigger point injections & theyve also helped ease the pains a bit.
I hope thats helped a bit.

Because my meds are mixed up with having Osteo as well I'm not sure what I can advise other than Phoning your doc and having a phone consultation and seeing what they suggest. Not sure if your doc's do phone consultations but mine does it might be worth asking! Mine does it because of my problems getting to surgery because of my mobility problems.

Hello, I am so very sorry for you as you have so much to deal with, both with the arthritis and life in general. Grief can play funny tricks with the whole of your mind and effect pain, eating, well, with me, just about everything. So I'll send you lots of love, ((((()))))((((())).
The person that gave me the best and most practical help regarding medciations and coping with my grief, was my GP. who was fantastically wonderful help to me and helped me see things through. I know a lot of people don't get on so well with their GP's but, it may be different this time.
The helpline here, is very good and the number at the top right of the page, 0808 1005040. They know about coping when you have arthritis at times like this and I'm sure can give you the names of any other organisation that can help, if you need it. Hope all goes as well as possible and you find help. Lots of love Sue xxxx ((((())))
