Hi everyone

I got a phone call from my surgeons secretary this morning to let me know that my surgery has been rescheduled for 9th September. The reason my surgeon has taken leave is because his father is very ill, so its understandable that he should be with his family. My surgeon has passed most of his other patients to a colleague but he want to do my surgery himself because it is the bi-lateral THR and a bit more complicated. I feel comfortable with this as I trust him and would rather he performed the surgery than a doctor who doesnt know me. It also means that I will be home for my Hubbys Birthday next week and his hospital appointment for his heart complaint. So on the whole everything has worked out quite well and me and hubby are going to get away for a few nights as well so I am really looking forward to that. The countdown begins yet again :P
Big Hugs

Someone's a happier-sounding girl! That is good news, weejean, you have the rest of what we laughingly call 'summer' to enjoy but the early part of your recovery will happen during a part of the year when sunshine is still about, the days are reasonably long and you should be feeling a deal better in time for Christmas so yes, all in all, not a bad outcome! Thanks DD

I feel much better about everything now that I have another date. I think its the not knowing that is so frustrating and constantly wondering when it might happen. I absolutely love Christmas so its good that I will be feeling much better by then and will enjoy it xx

    Hi Jean

(You took the words right out of my mouth mig.) Was just thinking the same when I saw the cancelled op. thread and then this one.

Sorry you had the disappointment Jean when you were psyched up and ready, but glad you don't have too long to wait. Can only be a good thing that the surgeon in whom you have such faith is wanting to do the op for you. Glad there are some positves from the delay, I guess your Dad may have a hand in that too eh?

Enjoy your time away, I leave a few hugs and some courage and as Karen says will be ready for pocket duty. ((( )))

Cris, my pockets will be enormous as I need you all with me, including the sheep

Hileena, it does make a big difference when you have a date no matter how far away it is. I think it gives you a chance to organise things so you feel more in control of the situation. Me and Hubby are going to a friends caravan in Cairn Ryan, a very small seaside town which is only about 50 miles from where we live. We are just waiting to hear from my friend to let us know when we can go but she has assured me she can fit us in before my surgery. We just enjoy relaxing in the peace and quiet. I noticed on one of your posts that you are getting away too, where are you going?

The sheep said they will and will bring some custard creams, though one might have the double choc cookies as they are her favorite

Hope you enjoy the time away and are okish today? Cris x

I think my 'sooky covers' tend to be made of wool and not welcome on warsds hence their ability to hide in pockets....

Glad your not to bad and me well i not sure just yet  A ((( ))) and a cuppa for you, they often help  Cris x

    Hello Jean

I am so pleased you now have a new date and that, actually, the change in date has some positive aspects too. And as you say, knowing that the man himself will be doing the surgery has got to be good.

Hope you enjoy your few days away.

    Love Tilly xxx

    Hi Jean,
I'm not as far up as you but far enough to have to break the journey.....I'm in Northumberland....we are going to Tenby ...far end of Wales....As it is we stop more times than the normal person would for breaks so we are only going halfway or so {with breaks  } then we have booked into a premier inn for the night. We will start off the next day and we've hired a cottage in Tenby. There are just the 2 of us so it means we can go at our own pace ....I dont have to feel I'm holding others back.....Peter is used to me :lol::lol: and now hobbling along on crutches.....well not exactly speedy gonzales :lol::lol:
We have a tourer that we use for most of our holidays but fancied Tenby this year and thats a bit far to tow a caravan and the way I am at the minute not the most comfortable. So thats why the cottage...we can still come and go as we please but it will be more comfortable.
Enjoy your break ....thats nice to have it to look forward to before your op.

    Love
    Hileena

Hi Weejean, you sound as if you have taken the news on the chin and have managed to see the positives of the situation, good for you.

As you say it is better to have the op done by an experienced surgeon who you trust. So the countdown begins again.

    Jean,

I am so pleased for you, great news that it's all fitting into place and you can have some time away with your husband. Your op date is the same day as our son takes his driving test so it's gonna be a good day all around I hope. Xxxx
