Another travel firm bites the dust

Well I do feel for the 50.000 people who have lost their holidays with Holidays 4U. This comes just a few months after Dreamticket.com left thousands stranded abroad in May. That little lad on the news broke his heart as the family were sent back home. Typically they were taking bookings and full amounts right up to the day before going into administration.

Turkey today has been covered in a black cloud. No not the travel company, volcanic ash so they say. Hopefully it should subside soon, my grandaughter is travelling there on Sunday. First holiday without mum and dad.

Oooooh Ron, that's an adventure for your grandaughter, I hope she has a lovely time. Is she going with friends?

As for those who are stranded, I have never really understood how these agencies can keep trading even when they must know they are going under. It isn't Mr Micawberish, it's foolhardy in the extreme. DD

    Hi Ron
Having these travel firms go under is so scary, like they where saying yesterday Atol and Abta are becoming worthless, when the hotels dont trust them, and are asking the tourist to pay or get out.
Not sure were all this will end, my niece is going abroad in September and instead of looking forward she is worrying over it.
I do hope your granddaughter has a good time, bet you are worrying over her, first its our children then grandchildren... never done has my mother used to say..
    Love

She's going with her mate and her parents, so she should be looked after, hopefully.

    Such a shame isn't it?

So far so good for us fingers crossed, but we do tend to go for the 'good' companies (though who knows who else may go under) and recently organised some trips ourselves avoiding crowded and stressful airports using the ferry instead.

Sure you Granddaughter will have a great time Ron  So long as she knows how to keep safe.

    Love

    Toni xx

She's with a family Toni, so hopefully should be ok, their flight was delayed by 2 hours last night. I suppose it would be 3am by the time they got there today.
