Hi guys, i havent been on in a while, been busy busy busy.

I think the steroid injections had a delayed reaction and didnt work for the first 3 weeks, then the last 6 weeks have been amazing i can tell you, i ditched the stick, been playing football with my son, walking loads, easier getting up stairs, although bit uncomfy going up not painful though.

I have been so much happier, i can honestly say i have not felt this good in a very long time, it has changed my mood, i have so much get up and go.

Then last night it came crashing down, well i did, my son walking in front of me thought it funny to stop and go backwards into me, knocking my lower legs back, and my whole 19st body went crashing onto the concrete, my knees talking the full blow, it hurt, but then got better after a few hours.

This morning i got up and that old pain started creeping back to my left knee. It looks like there is loads of fluid there, and i have had to use my stick again :(((

I havent broke anything, but do you get more fluid build up if you damage the knee, and if so do you think the rheumy will drain it.

I hope that everyone else isnt suffering too bad, and wish my past 6 week free of pain reaches you soon.

Take care x

    Hi Princess,

Oh flower that one hurts. I seem to fa;ll a lot now a days and always the knee takes the brunt of it.

he swelling is normal with a bang on the knee even if there isn't arthritis but gentle using and rt with it elevated might help.

if it doesn't show signs of going down in the next few days though you might need to go to the doc as it might need draining.

The fall also jars you up so your going to fell a bit sore for a few days.

Just rest up as much as you can and elevate that knee. ice might help as well. Hope it soon eases for you. Cris x

    Good Morning Princess

How awful that you have had an accident and it has brought your pain back. It must have been wonderful to be pain free and it gave you a new lease of life. Hopefully you will get help and feel good again very soon. Sending hugs your way :P

Oh dear, it's amazing what some people think is funny - I hope he is suitably contrite now. Steroids are lovely when they work, aren't they? I have never had that degree of relief from them, three days tops and never ditched the crutches, but hey-ho. Rest with the affected leg elevated, ice it too - I used to drape a bag of frozen peas over my legs in the bad old days, with an old tea towel between the peas and my skin - massage the knee gently, moving your hands upwards to try to disperse the fluid. If it does not go down after a few days then yes, contact the rhuematology department, explain what happened and ask if they can see you. I hope it feels better soon. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

    Oh Dear,
What a come down.....its fantastic that you felt so much better.....I dont know much about knees but I agree with the majority......for the time being rest and elevate it and use cold on it if thats what helps.
Before you know it if you take it easy for now you'll be back to your high.....and your get up and go will get up and come back

    Love

oh dear princess, just as you were having a good pain free time.

I am sorry about your fall, that must have really shook you up. I hope the knee swelling goes down in a day or so, but if not then I would say you need to see your doctor.

I will have my fingers crossed, Take care
