Hello again,

My ankles that have been swollen and stiff have gone down but now I have terrible pain in both feet at my ankle bone-and it's getting worse throughout the day. I also have pain in all my finger joints. It feels like I've banged the bones in some way. My ankles are by far the worst-I'm counting down the hours to take more paracetamol but they're not hitting the pain at all.
Anyone else get this?

I suspect you need something stronger than paracetamol, it just doesn't have the clout we need. All pain dullers only take off the edge but stronger ones do take off a little more. Are you able to take ther stronger stuff? We all have pain, magenta, we know what it is like. It does make life so difficult, it is wearing and tiring and relentless. I have found over the years that if I divert my attention from it I don't feel it as keenly, and the Challenging Pain course re-enforced that for me.

My last pain-free day was some time in early April 97. I thought what was happening by the end of June that year was bad - thank whoever I had no idea what was coming! You will get through this, you are tougher than you think and we wil do whatever we can to help. DD

    Hi,

We all get pain at different levels, I think you need to phone in morning and get an appointment with the GP. The pain will not go awaynon it's own it will need a push along the way.

Hope you feel better soon. Xx

    Hi DD,

Thanks for your reply. I've told my gp that the paracetamol ain't working but he's not interested in changing my pain meds. I started getting constipated on co-dydramol so back onto paracetamol. I was prescribed Acupan which helped but now told not to take that with pregabalin. I'm going to up my pregabalin, suppose I'm used to the dose I'm on-it is very low but I'm scared it will zonk me.

This is a constant pain and I'm beginning to think that whatever I've got is getting worse. I'm not under the care of a rhuemy anymore-don't really know what to do.

    Thanks,

    Magenta x

PS Hope you are well, wishing you luck for Friday x

    Hi Eileen,

Its a bit of a catch 22 with the drugs effecting you but I can vouch for the effectiveness of the pregabs.

How low is the does you started at? They started me at 75 and I was able to do the 150 the next week but then I had quite a long time before I got to the 300.

They don't zonk me they wired me and gave a massive head rush..... Now they just help with the pain

Once you get on a high enough does you will feel so much less pain I promise you but till then... Not sure what you can take.

Might be worth mentioning it purely so its logged but i don't know as they will do much for you over it.

Leaving a ((((( ))))) and a hope with the bucket of universal fixer and hopes. Love Cris xx

Oh what have they got you on for anti-inflammatories... cus that they could change.

Hi magenta. You do need to go back to your doc, ask to be put back on the codry (if it was helping) and also ask about either Docusate tablets or Movicol sachets. My mum uses the latter to help with the blocking effects of her meds, I use the former 'cos I will not have the same stuff as her (stupid, I know, she is 85 and I am not, I just feel it!) I find the Docusate very easy - you can swallow up to four caplets a day (they are soft and easy to gulp) and they certainly help to keep things flowing as they should (perhaps flowing is the wrong word in this context! ) Why be in pain when you don't need to be?

Thank you for your good wishes for Friday, I appreciate them very much. DD

    Hi Cris and DD,

I don't want to take co-dydramol again-can't be annoyed with all the other tablets that I'd need to take with it. GP's have tried me on other anti-inflamms with bad results. There's not alot left for me to try.

I was on 75mg of pregabalin and today upped it to 150mg. Half an hour after taking them, I get a cramp in my left leg that lasts about 2hrs then subsides-I'm going to have to tell the dr. Bit worried he'll take me off them cos I think they were working. Cris, did you get leg cramps?

    Thanks,

    Eileen xx

    Oh eileen

what a pain it is trying to get meds sorted :evil makes you so cross doesn't it - anything you try has a knock-on effect

If you wanted to try the codydramol again maybe you coudl do what l used to do ????a small glass prune juice (quite tasty!!) a day. Sorted

Do you still take your anti-inflams as well? l only say as it is an extra pain releiver.....sorry not mucch help l really hope the leg cramps are not the pregabs....every time you find something which helps.....

    Love
