Hi Everyone,

Bit random, but i'm gonna ask any way-dose anyone have brisk reflexes-I always thought-well theres nothing wrong with them as they're so resonsive! I've recently found out that brisk isn't necessarily a good thing.
Any responses greatfully recieved.

    Thank you Hileena,

I'm sure you know what it's like - I've been scratching around trying to get my head round all these very strange things that are going onwith my body and wonder if they're all conected in some way. Sometimes I feel like I'm not really listened to by my GP/consultant so they never really get the whole story.

Any way I'm feeling much stronger since I've been popping in here so hopefully by the 22nd Aug when I see the Rhuemy i'll be much better equiped and be able to get the most from this meeting.

Hope you have an ok day and the sun is shining for you this morning.

    Hi Tracey
No the sun isnt shining and doesnt look as if it will today but... hey ho...never mind.
It is hard to get your head around all the things especially when its not just one thing
I found this forum great and got so much information from it....especially before I went for my hip replacement.

If anyone bangs my knees to assess my reflexes what won't be brisk is them, but my fist connecting with their nose will be lightning fast! I wish you well for your appointment on 22nd, let us know how you get on, yes? DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

Yes I'll keep you posted. This is a little treat for me, I've got a late start today, so I'm sitting with my feet up havin a cup of coffee before getting ready for work. I know I'm very lucky to be able to work at the moment-I've just had a phased return after being off for a few months.

Take care and hope to speak soon.

    Hi Tracy

Glad to hear that you are feeling strong for your rheumy appt....good

Your brisk reflexes...worth asking them why.....l do remember someone once having a thread about beats of clonus (this was to do with reflexes too), bout a year ago.

I know l lost mine completely when my spinal chord was being squished before my back surgery...?

Hope you get a good explanation.

    Love

Hi brisk reflexes indicate systemic neurological involvement, either by a disease process or infection etc.

Only reason I know is because along with all the other things I have, I have this as well!!!! It could very well be all connected, mine is, I have SLE, sjorgens and a few other things. My neuro symptoms are caused by certain antibodies in my blood. Your rheumy should be able to help you further, they usually run the blood tests as standard.

oh thanks for reading my post and the responses. I thought it might be conected - I have first appointment with Rhuemy on 22nd Aug. Have had loads of blood tests but all come back clear. Obviously I'm pleased they are but a bit of me is slightly dissappointed as it means my story continues. Brisk reflexes, restless legs, hands that go numb at night and when they get cold, very tired, and aches and pains in most joints, have OA in lumber and cervical spine-no cord compression (thank goodness).
    Thank crunchie it's Friday!

    Well Tracey

22nd is not too far away....can you start your list ready for then so you can say what you need to say?

I think it is a total pain when your bloods are neg as they seem to want to write you off straight away, but you have your chance on 22nd, so be prepared.

Hi, the list is an excellent idea. Also, the rheumy will run more specialised blood tests that gps don't run. The rheumy is more qulaified to interpret the results as well, normal doesn't always mean nothing is showing.

All the best for your appt. x

Thanks again for the responses-I'm not sure how I survived prior to finding this siite!

One week to go! and another strange symptom to add to the list(great idea to make a list) my left foot has started to vibrate like a phone ringing-that probably sounds bizarre-it has happened on the odd occasion before but it's been at it for most of the day, it just buzzes for a few beats slight pause and the same again over and over all day. Nothing I do will stop it. Not sure how I'm going to sleep - it's not painfull just so annoying!

Blood tests came back normal and xray of knee showed normal too, have no idea what the dull ache is in the back of my knee joint. Ouch!

I too have brisk reflexes - been tested twice now by the consultant, once before my spine op and again a couple of days ago at my 6 week post op check.

If you can lay down at night knowing in your heart that you made someone's day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day.

Elna i thought it was my spine....you and I have the same condition there dont we? but no one has given me a reason :???:
