Ooops, thought I would share my latest silly moment with everyone, I have quite a few!
Going to book holiday couple weeks ago and realised two of the kids passports have run out!!!!!!!!! Did the check and send with the post office and was led to believe that it was guaranteed two week turnaround, oh no just found out it's not. Not a problem you would think but it is, we were hoping to go over to France for ten days on 16th but now maybe not! Just phoned them and they still being examined, have never done anything last minute before but this could be a first. At the end of the day wherever we go will be great as our eldest comes back from uni in Aberdeen so all my kids at home again.
Anyway plan 'A' if passports come back by end of week book very last minute throw stuff in a bag, grab the kids and hubby and off on our adventures we go!
Plan 'B' we will go away in England for a week again last minute.
Ooh dear I like to know what I am doing does this make me a candidate for OCD?
Fingers crossed all, if all else fails me and a crate of wine in my living room! Any ideas for holidaying in the UK with teenagers. Xx

A bit late to help now, Anky, but for future reference, instead of the P.O. you can contact your nearest passport office, make an appointment, and be in and out very quickly. Mr SW had to do it when we first went to USA as he didn't realise he needed 6 months on his passport for entry. It might mean a bit of travelling but it is quick. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I did the same thing last time we went away, only I had booked first!!!
We had them checked with the post office and they came back in time, it was under 2 weeks. Hopefully you will be ok.
As for holidaying with teenagers, well thats tricky. Lets face it, they will moan whatever! You could try centreparks, lots of activities but expensive. We tend to camp and have found a great site just outside weymouth with a heated outdoor pool, clubhouse with pool table etc. Rocky beach next to site so they can go crabbing etc. Loads to do in that area, places to go, beaches etc.
Not sure how old yours are or what you like doing, I have lads so they always have to be on the go!
Whatever you do, have a fab time, you deserve it.0 -
Hi Anky
l am SURE you will get them in time. I have done that check and send business myself and it does speed it up.
Cross fingers for you

Just wanted to say, your a mum and are always doing and thinking for everyone else in the family. You can't be expected to remember everything all the time.
The passports could turn up in time, if not you could have a nice hol in this country.
I'll cross my fingers for you.

SW, will remember that in the future! My biggest mistake years ago was when we were travelling to Australia (mr anky is an Aussie) and kids passports had run out and found out at airport, I didn't realise kids passports only for five years. Kids have English and Aussie passports but even Aussie ones had run out, eventually let kids fly on Aussie passports cos they been on them before! Honestly I do some silly things. Xx
Suzygirl, I am refraining from booking anything but am so tempted! Fingers crossed it could be get them Monday go Tuesday, funny part will be packing not knowing where we going. We have 15 yr girl, 17yr boy, 20 yr boy so very hard to please them all but they just love being together as a family so that's good. Xx
Toni, hope so have everything crossed at minute, will keep you posted. Xx
Karen, that was. Lovely thing to say and very true to be honest. Wherever we go will be good. XxAS Sufferer

This is a bit late to help you, but a couple of years ago a similar thing happened to me. Hubby appears with a smile on his face and says "surpirise, get your passport we are going to Egypt next week" "Oooo, lovely" says I "Did you renew my passport when you booked the tickets as it is 12 months out of date" OOOPS.
Needless to say we had a couple of days of mad panic and found ourselves waiting outside the Peterborough passport office at 8am one frosty November morning to get an instant renewal. One hour later and £150 poorer, I had my passport.
By the way, we had a great holiday, but I felt that we needed it after the stress of getting the passport sorted. Bless Hubby.0 -
Hi Anky
I have my fingerscrossed too that your passports arrive on time.

Mine and my daughters have run out and the boys run out on the 11th of August. I have 1 photo to do, all forms are filled, and then I can send mine off but thought it would be too late for a foreign hols before the kids return to school. 2 weeks does sound optimistic.
