I pitched up at rheumatology today to collect my new supply of meth. There was some waiting around due to an ill one and two people not turning up but then I went in. As I is a good girl I mentioned to the nurse that the breathing is all to cock and I have had a tickly cough for some time. She frowned and went away to consult. Ten minutes later she was back with a white form for for lung function tests and a blue one for a chest Xray. I did the latter first, as it was on the way to the second. I walked in, handed over said blue form, and waited for all of about five minutes. I was called in and done. Then I trooped off to the LF suite, wandered in, a nice man hummed and haahed and said 'We have a cancellation, do you want it done now?' Yes please, said I. I sat and waited for all of three minutes then spent about fifty breathing in and out into the machine at various speeds etc, complete with nose clip. Apparently I scored better figures than the last set two years ago, done before the humira began. Got out and came home. Not a bad morning's work by yours truly or the people that helped me.
Everyone I dealt with was polite, everyone was helpful, everyone was pleasant. Good old NHS. If they didn't lose letters I would be a really happy bunny! I am know waiting for results, which I confidently predict will be phoned to me by 4pm. Yeah, right! DD

DD it was good to hear your morning went well, that your rhummy people sent you for a prompt xray and LF test. I am glad that your departments are doing their best.
Credit where credits due.
Hope the results are not long and they come back ok.
Enjoy the rest of the afternoon

DD, you have made my day. The NHS doesn’t always get everything right but sometimes it gets things very right and it’s good to hear the success stories.
Is this an omen for tomorrow and Friday? All together now – YES!If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I am so green with envy that you have such a fab team supporting you, now if you could let us know where you live we will all move to the catchment area for the clinic hehehe.
It's great to hear some good news about the NHS!0 -
It's taken me years to assemble my team, flowerpot! I am a great believer that one will go far with the NHS staff is one is always polite, smiley, cheerful, compliment them about a lovely necklace, earrings, nail varnish, whatever (the male nurses love having their varnish noticed! ) Seriously, all the desk staff usually see is grumpy people who do not understand that they ARE NOT the only ones waiting to be seen, people who turn up on the wrong day, or the right date but in the wrong month, or even - and I have witnessed this - the right date of the month but in the wrong year and who still demand to be seen. It seems to me that in a hospital the great British Public is mostly comprised of grumpy, dull, uncommunicative and unco-operative people - and that is just the patients.
For some unkown reason I have felt wiped out today. For crying out loud, all I did was sit about, take me top clothes off and have a lovely black and white done, redressed, sat down some more and then did some breathing, still sitting down. Phacking arthritis. It does take it out of one, does it not? DD
I think I am fortunate in that my hospital is a teaching one.Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Glad to hear some good news!
People are usually eager to complain but are never so eager to give credit where credit's due. I always make a point of telling people when they have done a good job. Whenever I get a compliment at work, it makes me feel good for the rest of the day.

Well DD
You were lucky, it's not often you hear of things like that and in a short space of time from the N.H.S. Come on, you must have done something (only joking) but you've had it all done just to wait for results now.

Hi, I think on the whole the NHS are great...apart from a couple of times losing letters between different authorities.
The ortho who did my hip was lovely and so was his secretary. He was the main one I saw
Having OA I dont have a team as such like a rheumy nurse. but all the others I've come across, acupuncturaist, various consultants, different people doing scans have all been great {except the first eye man i saw...{different health authority }
I think if we treat them well they treat us well. {generally speaking} I know after my hip operation ...I had had lots of different appointments with my ortho and had been in touch with his secretary a lot and they were great so I sent them a Thank You card afterwards......I dont think many people do that because they were chuffed. It was such a little thing for me to do as well....As for my GP she is fantastic
If we go in grumpy we probably get the attitude from them that we deserve

From the media we only heard about the bad in the nhs and as staff in the hospital there are numerous letters of complaints. But that is it they only list the complaints no mention of the good things that happened.
Also studying psychology it is a fact that negative things are remembered more than positive.
All I am trying to say really it is nice to see someone giving the nhs praise for a change as we only really hear complaints about the nhs.0
