Hi all

Sorry I haven't been about in a long while. With playing taxi service for the children, studing for my Teaching Assistant Diploma and working at a local school once a week I haven't had time to stop

Now its the school holidays and I am lifting my daughter every day (she has special needs) I am really suffering with hip and back pain. This morning I was awake at 3.30 with my TENs machine hooked up.

Big hugs to you all
Beckie x

    Hi Beckie
I'm sorry you are suffering.....Dare I ask is it maybe because you are doing too much? Kids, studying for a dip, and working at school once a week? I dont think we should be hermits and not do anything but sometimes I can overe-do it.....just a thought
    Take care
    Love

I am not surprised you are suffering: would it be possible for you to get a hoist for your girl? I presume she is getting heavier as she ages, this type of strain is not on for your poor joints. I agree with hileena, this dross does limit our capabilities (if not our ambitions) so please try to rest as much as you can. DD

    Hi beckie

Sounds as though you are non stop. I think it is probably a good idea of dd to ask for a hoist to help you lift your daughter, especially as it is hurting yourback.
I hope you can try and rest at some point in the day.

    Take care

    Hi there

I to agree with DD that you need a hoist for your daughter and that you must make sure that you can get rest for yourself. I do hope that you can get something sorted out, keep us informed wont you.

    Hi beckie

Good to see you again, but not so good you are suffering.

have you had an assessment yet for help with lifting your daughter?? Carers are entitled to an assessment and it would prolong your back wouldn't it?

    Love

Thanks for the warm welcome back

I was going along OK until the school holidays. I guess thats cause my daughter is at school from 9am until 3.30pm and now she is home 24/7 and although she is trying to walk, move herself around there is lots of lifting of sorts.

We have a stairlift which is a total godsend and she will walk holding hands from the lift into her bedroom but she fights to be changed. At the moment we are on the waiting list for the OT to come out to see how they can help further i.e. bath seats (she will climb in holding hands but needs to be dragged out) and hoists.

I think that I have taken on alot. At the school although we don't lift as we have to use hoist etc it is still physically demanding. I will have to see how it goes I guess.

As I am 35 alot of friends don't get it, and I was told less than 15 minutes ago that my DD will soon be in better shape than me if I continue to be in this much pain.

Next week we are off to Cornwall. It will be nice to have hubby around to help with our daughter.
