    Hi Mig,
I often take extra steroids if I'm having a bad day.
Although I am trying to cut them down. Bit of a catch 22.
My Rhuematology nurse is aware of it and doesn't have a problem with me doing it.

That's a slippery slope, mig. Steroids are lovely, seductive little pills 'cos they do make such a difference. I am devoting the whole year to getting off them (I started them in Feb 2007) and boy do I know I am only on 4.5 per day. I started the year on 15mg and thought that was bad enough! I am fifteen years into this dross and I know it's only going to get harder without them, but for me there is not a choice. The long-term effects of them are enough to worry even me. I don't bother about side-effects of tablets, if I get 'em I get 'em and if I don't I don't, but the steroids are in a league of their own on that front.

One of the major processes of dealing with arthritis is learning to adjust to increasing pain and a decreasing range of movement. Everyone's is different in its rate of development and how it hits, but do try to use the steroids as infrequently as you can. They are dangerous little darlings. DD
