    Hi Gilly

I have never had Cellulitis but my Mum has it. She is bothered with it quite a lot and it flares up every now and then. Like yourself she sometimes needs IV Antibiotics and they work well with her along with lots of rest with her feet up. It usually takes a couple of weeks for my Mum to feel back to her old self again. When its really bad I gently massage cold cream into my Mums legs a few times a day and she finds it very soothing, I dont know if you have tried that but it seems to help when the legs are so red, puffy and spotty. Hope that helps you a bit and really hope you feel a lot better soon. Take it easy xx

I don't think I can offer much in terms of comfort, sorry. Two friends of mine have had cellulitis (he doesn't have arthritis, she has mild OA). He was very ill, this was late summer 2009, he had IV anti-biotics at home for about ten days and a month off work. She was hospitalised for a week at Christmas and New Year 2010/11 as hers was on/in her face and the docs were worried about brain damage. His leg still bears the traces of it, her face too. It's a nasty infection. You rest as much as you can, it can take while to get over. I am so sorry and I hope you feel better soon. DD

I used to get that quite a lot but always my neck head and face. Each time I had to go into hospital because of the risk to my eyes and swelling blocking my airways. Yes it is very very painful, that I do remember. All I can say is be patient, it will go. When it has gone you may a bit of scaring, I have some around my chin, neck area. But then maybe that was because I kept getting it.

Would you believe my doctor reckons that I am one of these people that are prone to things like that.

So, you will get better, the swelling will go down, and hopefully your'll never get it again. Keep your chin up.
