Can anyone tell me how long the wait normally is to be seen by a NHS orthopaedic consultant, ive been told different times by various people.
Ive had a quote to see one privately £200 which at the moment is not something i can afford

I was referred in April, I found out towards the end of July that the letter had been lost. I saw the Registrar on 25 July, on the 5th August I took a ohone call from ortho, appointment last Friday the 12th. If it has been longer than six weeks chase them. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hiya,
I was referred to an ortho consultant at the end of June, got my letter last week for the 2nd Sept. I thought that was ok.

It can vary a great deal hun, if you have been waiting a long time then, as has been suggested give them a ring... Tell them you will take cancellation appointments if that is feasable..
Best of luckMe-Tony

Thanks everyone
i had a mri scan in may and kept chasing results up with secretary as Carolyn my physio wouldnt continue with physio on my knee until she new exactly what we were dealing with which i dont blame her, we dont want to do anymore damage than is already done, a week after i had the scan i spoke with carolyn and she said that your ortho consultant wants you to see another ortho consultant which i took to mean that he would sort that out for me, anyway i had an appt with my normal consultant that operated on my knee 22nd July he explained that if i had to have surgery on my hip its not as bad as what i had done on my knee and replacements last 20-30yrs but he wouldnt tell me anymore as said it wasnt really his field of expertise anyway from the looks of things he has only just referred me on the 22nd July which i can help feel alittle annoyed at but but but the good news was that my knee graft appears to be working YYYYEEEEEHHHHHAAAAAAA Sorry i felt the need to do that, just pleased something seems to be going rightJo-Ann0
