    Hi Donna

some people swear by them mostly for OA l think. I tried them myself along with other stuff before diagnosis.

    Not sure it helped...

I too tried them before diagnosis and they made no difference. I think they are for people who like to think they have arthritis, but actually don't. Everyone is different, however, in how they react to such things, and despite there being no medical/clinical research proving their effectiveness some swear by them. DD

I have OA - and I tried them for 6 weeks or so and didn't seem to make any difference for me. My mum swears by them and has no OA she's bin takin them for years and when the GP stopped prescribing them she brought them herself! Perhaps I should have taken them 3 years ago before my problems started-the wisdom of hindsiight.

I talked to my gp and she said if they haven't made a difference stop taking them, so thats what I did. So I think it's down to the person - it's worth given them a try if they're not too expensive.

I took them faithfully for two years but they didn't change anything for me so I stopped I need to try Omega 3 now as everyone seems to have good results with them.

Hi, I have OA and have been taking glucosamine sulphate since I was diagnosed. Do they do any good? - I wish I knew. I still have flare ups that even pain meds don't seem to touch, but I continue to take them "just in case" they are helping.

They are fine for those who like to think they have OA but don't. They are good for those who put every little age-related twinge down to arthritis but who are, in fact, just getting on a bit in years. OA is dismissed as the 'wear and tear' arthritis (as no-one really knows the cause behind it) but that does it a huge dis-service. Supplements cannot not stop it happening and won't impact on its presence. The advertising, however, is very good at persuading us otherwise. DD

Thanx to everyone who gave me there advise and opinions on glucosamine.
The packaging and advertising does look good, there must be so many people like myself that spend there money believing it.
Having said that i am going to try them, just not the really expensive ones.
A more possitive note iv booked in for water aerobics at end of week and am looking at buying an exercise bike to use at home, even tho i have full gym membership aswel.
I will probably be peddeling away and watching homes under the hammer ha ha.
I hope everyone has a good day take care and thanx again.
