To those of you who need a hug

Two years ago, when my daughter moved 200 miles away to attend uni in South Wales, she left me a little bell with "ring for a hug" etched on it. As you can imagine, it is a much used bell.

It seems that so many of you are in need of a hug at the moment, that I want you to know that I will be thinking of you all and ringing the bell daily for you. I hope you can hear it and feel the hugs coming your way.

Take care everyone and embrace the good days.

Diane

    Hi Diane,

That's a lovely post and such a kind sentiment

I love imagery..... Its so good to be able to gt the 'help' you need by seeing or actually ringing a bell. Your daughter is really insightful to do that for you.

Hey you know the hug thing is 2 way don't you? Leaving you one for the kindness of your post and a hope your doing ok> Cris x

How very kind. I am not into the hug thing (as anyone on here can tell you) but I love the idea of your little bell: would you consider arranging a set time every day when you ring it for all us, so we can sit and listen? Please? DD

Aww how lovely. Thank you for sharing.
Hugs are good for the soul, especially mummy hugs. I regularly tap my mum on the shoulder for one and I'm 23. ;)

((((hugs)))) for all those who want and a little wave and a smile for those who don't. x

I did not realise that my little bell would raise such a response. I will ring it every day at 7pm, so listen out for it.

    Hi Diane
What a lovely idea, I have a thing about bells, in the 60s my mum bought me an hippy bell, then 10years later my grandma came to stay and when she needed us she would ring the bell, then my sons came along, and now my granddaughters love it....oh sorry Iv gone on a bit there.....very sentimental me.....and thankyou for the hugs...

    Hi Diane
I will make sure that I don't ring my bell at 7pm and confuse everyone. My son and his wife bought me a bell that had on it 'ring for a beer'!

    Hi Vini

I just welcomed you on the hello zone

I shall be listening out for the tinkling of bell in about half an hour. Not sure what time it will be with you in 30 minutes though.

Hope to see you posting around the forum,

Even though I am not really into the hug thing I can appreciate its value. I like the idea of a number of us, all sitting there at roughly the same time and tinkling away! I will be in the curry house at 7 tonight, but have 'armed' my handbag with the neck bell from a Lindt easter bunny! Have bell, will ring. DD

I rang it on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and will continue to do so every evening - that's a promise. DD

OK I inherited a little brass bell from my mother-in-law. I've always disliked it. It's in the shape of a woman in a crinoline-type dress. She looks like the love child of Little Bo Peep and Hannibal Lecter. At last she has a purpose in life. Maybe her looks will improve. I shall be swinging her by her head at 7pm every evening.

I got the ultimate diagnosis last week after an MRI scan showed it wasn't my ligaments i had damaged in a fall it was arthritis. Now walking on two crutches, can't work, can't walk, don't know where to turn next and no one understands but thank you for the HUG i needed it.
