Laminated bedroom floor - some cautionary tales

Yesterday Mr SW & friend took up our old bedroom carpet and installed laminate flooring. And a decent job they made of it.
Last night I sat on the bed to undress and it immediately shot off behind me until it hit the wardrobe. Luckily only 12" or so. Next, I took off my shoes and began, carefully, to remove my trousers. This time, my only contact with the laminate being trousers and socks, I began to shoot off but, forewarned, managed to keep an inch or so of bottom on the bed. This morning I went to make the bed. This time it shot forwards & I ended up half-lying on it at a very strange angle, from which I couldn’t move. I did not find Mr SW’s “What are you doing there?” particularly helpful.
So, this afternoon we went to get some little holders to stop the castors moving and a mat with something rubbery underneath to stop me moving. There were some OK ones but then I spied, just above head level, some that, side view (which was all I could see) looked a bit prettier in pale green and light fawn.
Me: “I think I might like one of those.”
Mr SW, smirking: “You can’t have one of those at the side of the bed.”
Me, puzzled because he’s not usually so dogmatic: “Whyever not?”
Mr SW, still smirking: “Because it says ‘WELCOME’!”

If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Ooh-er missus! Laminate is lovely to look at but yes, slippery. I have a friend who bought a strip of that gripper mat stuff you can get for trays and car dashboards: she put little squares or circles under offending wheels and that stopped all sliding and rolling. We have a similar problem with our wooden floors and I have done the same under our bed. Nothing shifts it now, not even ten ton Tessie (moi  ) thumping down on it as the knees etc give way. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Rich took the castors off our bed to stop it moving (luckily it doesn't look silly)
Take care (please)
