Morning Val
Sorry about your horrible jaw pain. Does sound as if it could be arthritis related doesn't it and you may need to mention it to doc or dentist for advice.
Thinking of you.

Oh Val
Had this one too in the past and it can be nasty.
In fact after three weeks of agony l was cleaning my teeth one night there was a click and.....horror of horrors  ....it stuck shut!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was advised to avoid hard chewy food go mushy for a bit  Take my anit-inflams and painkillers as prescribed and found on this occaison that my wheatie was the best help.....the other things was from the dentist not rheumy. He said when l go to bed to relax the facial muscles conscioulsy as those of us in pain very often grit our teeth to cope.
Val l hope this helps you a bit.
It took about 2/3 weeks to go properly but each day l could open my mouth a bit more (poor hubby)

Be on trend and go for the 'looter look'. Wrap a lovely warm scarf round the lower part of your face and then rest your jaw on a warm hot water bottle. (I know looters tend not to have hotties.) You should get a longer-lasting warmth with that combo. I am sorry valval, how utterly miserable. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Well done Val
good that you are aware of clenching so you can actively try to relax.
Look after yourself

Hi Val,
Sorry about your jaw pain-I have it and it's not good. I was wondering about you saying you had been clenching your jaw. Do you do that alot? I was diagnosed with Temperomandibular Joint Dysfunction a few years back. That can cause jaw pain and headaches-very painful ones and it's caused by clenching your jaw. It could also be arthritis so you're best getting it checked out and for me it was my dentist that helped me.
As others have said-heat really helps ( I also do the scarf thing )

I hope you have an easier night tonight, Val. Could you manage soup with your meds? (Better than nothing.) Also, do you take painkillers going to bed? If some of the pain is due to teeth clenching it might help.
A friend's daughter (without arthritis) used to have terrible jaw pain from clenching her teeth during the night. The dentist made her a gum shield.
I wish you sweet dreams. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
