Good days, bad days

The past few days have been painful to say the least. After a few days away in my camper van Monday was spent cleaning it out etc and Tuesday was spent in a lot of pain. My shoulders were so bad I couldnt even pick up a cup of tea. 2 co-codamol and 2 tramadol plus a a couple of hours sleep seemed to do the trick tho'.

I rarely take tramadol having had some bad experiences a couple of years ago whilst in hospital having my knee done. I was being given it four times a day everyday for five days, I had to ask for some other painkiller as I was hallucinating, believe me it was scary. Has anyone else had any bad experiences with the drugs they're taking...?

Pace yourself young Dave, pace yourself, it sounds as though you did a little too much all in one go. (It's an easy temptation if ever there was one.) I have been on the tramadol recently after tearing my ligament and yes, the nights have been disturbed not ony with pain but also by very odd, disconcerting and unsettling dreams, so it's back to just the cocos and gritted teeth. That's a far better combo! Rest up now and I hope it all eases soon. DD

PS. I have just had a proper 'Eureka!' moment on another post: the dreams have only started since I began an anti-depressant treatment, so I reckon it's the interraction of those meds, I never had the dreams before. Could the same apply for you, ie an interraction with another med you are taking?

    Hi Dave

blimey you did do a lot didn't you? I hope you are resting now?

Glad your meds combo did the job for you and hope that you dont have the problems you had with tramadol before.

I haven't had that sort of trouble with meds, but l do get dreadfukly sick on tramadol....not even worth trying the stuff!!

    Take CARE

    Hi Dave

Glad you enjoyed your few days in your campervan but I am sorry that you are now paying the price

Like everyone else has said, I think you need a couple of days rest, and then pace your self.

    Hope you are better soon

    Hi Dave

Glad you are feeling a bit better, I too am always doing too much all in the one day and suffering for it the next. I took Tramadol once and will never take them again, they just send me off my head. I was interested to read about the lifelike dreams on Vals post as I have been getting these since I was changed from co-codamol 30/500 to co-dydramol 30/500. I wonder if I should discuss changing my pain meds with my GP ?? Take things easy Dave xx

Well Ive been taking things easy since I made that post and certainly feel a lot better. Ive also been taking one tramadol before bed and It seems ok, no vivid dreams or hallucinations just a good night sleep and no pain when I wake up.

Ive got a few more camper van trips planned but maybe I'll let someone else clean it out, I'll just stick to driving (even that can be painful at times).

Isnt it funny how we take our bodies for granted until something goes wrong with it..................

Is it ok to take cocodamol & tramadol together? I am assuming from your posts that the GP has said this is ok.....

Co Codomal and Tramadol must of zonked you out, I hope you are feeling a bit better, its not good being sore. Have you tried a heat pad on the sore areas I find this can help sometimes.

I was given both co-codamol and tramadol whilst in hospital so I assume my doctor thinks its ok..............It worked what ever he thought  .

I do have a wheat bag which I use on occasions when pain is particularly bad

I use trammies when in extremis and add the cocos as a top-up. I have never been told not to and as a combo they are effective but we are all different in how we react. DD

    Hi Dave,

i hope you got a good night and the pain has eased for you today?

I have indeed had some big hallucinations but mine have come from the pregabs.... normally only when I had the infusion ( hell and I want it back  ).

They can be unpleasant and they can be extremely real....

I get the head rush from the pregabs a lot if I take them too late and try and go to sleep before they have mellowed... i find that unpleasant as well cus its so busy and pictures fly past so fast you can't actually see them.

With the hallucination try and remember its not real....

I know that can be hard but i am lucky cus i have only had 4 and only one of them was bad... but Dave it was bad .... dead bodies coming out the wall and leaning over me taking to me and I couldn't stop it or 'wake up'

That was while having the infusion and in hospital... god knows what the nurses made of me cus 300 pregabs used to so zonk me.....

They don't know but the last drip i had did set them off but they were quite good

Its worth talking to the doc about this one though.

Trams I take 8 a day and have been fine with them but if they are doing that to you it might be you need something else.

With me cus they are so good I forgive the pregabs everything..... I would fight to the last to keep them.

I rally hope it will all ease off cus sometimes it just takes a bit of time to get used to the drugs. Fingers crossed for you. Cris x
