Bonjour from France,

When we go on holiday we are know as the Griswolds from National Lampoons Vacation and just thought I might give you all a laugh at our latest antics.

We left for our ferry crossing on late Monday night, travelled down to Poole for the fast crossing to chebourgh. Made good time and had good trip down with plenty of time to spare. Used disabled badge to get on ferry to park near lift to make life easier, parked and was escorted to the lift which I got in with eldest son. Now I think is the time to tell you I am scared of lifts (getting stuck in them and ferry's), door closes and press button to go up so passenger level. Lift starts moving after a while stops but no door opens, start pressing button but nothing happening. There was a sign that said in emergency press this button someone will talk to you and don't panic, pushed the button but nobody spoke to us so what did I do PANIC! My husband then phoned to tell me they were sending for the engineers, after five minutes there was someone on  the roof, and lots of hustle and bustle, my son was trying to calm me down everything was spinning and I wasn't interested I hearing anything only getting out. They then send for more tools and started to hand winch the lift back  down to car level, then I really started crying and losing the plot. A member of staff said to my husband "let me speak to her to calm her down" my husband said "you talking to her won't stop that". Anyway they winched it down and opened the door to see me crying with my head buried in my coat and hyperventilating, I then sat on the floor of the lift and was lifted out!  The ferry was half hour late leaving, they gave us free food and drink for all the family on the crossing. It goes without saying that stuck in a lift on a ferry was not pleasant experience, the stress instantly brought on the pain and it is safe to say I will be using the stairs on the way back!

We arrived at the camp site ands it fantastic with loads of stuff to do, keep looking at the horse riding and wonder g if I could manage it but then know I would prob regret later with the bones. First night wasi in the bar having a drink put my head back on the wall and knocked a photo off the wall and the whole place laughed! Had nice day St Malo today on the beach. It just makes me wonder how long before our next disaster or adventure whatever you want to call it . . . . . . . time will tell!

Hope you all keeping well, missing our chats. Xxxx

    Bonjour mon amie.

Anky, I know it was awful for you but I'm just delighted to learn someone does actually respond to those emergency buttons. I don't think I've ever totally believed in them.

    A bientot.
