All we wanted to do was change who paid for the policy. Simple enough one would have thought. We waited until the renewal was due, I cancelled my payment method, he rang them and set up new details and paid, then we sat back and waited for the new policy details to plop through the letter box (within ten days, he was told). Nothing appeared so after twenty days I ring to discover that they have no record of the payment, there was a quote in place which has now expired and we are, in fact, not insured and haven't been for the past twenty days. Despite the fact they have had his money we are not covered. I cannot talk to the payments department because I am not him, despite being his wife I am not allowed to speak to them. For phack's sake.
Why do these large companies make life so damn difficult? We have been with the red telephone people for over twenty years, nary a hiccup (and nary a claim either) but when we change summat so basic they fall apart. Twerps. Idiots. Clots. Winkers. Ye gods. DD

Thank goodness you didn't have a claim in those 20 days. I wonder what happened!
I expect they will back date the payment for those 20 days too.....

valval, both names is worth considering (though we name each other on driving insurance etc). It is ridiculous, isn't it? All this data protection bollards etc.
Strewth, tkachev, I hadn't thought of that! I am unwilling to leave the house now as we have had a spate of burglaries in my area over the past fortnight. No cups of tea allowed near my computer until we are covered! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Ridiculous!!!!
they are a bunch of twits!!
l hate that not letting yo speak to them about teh policy which covers your home because you are not the 'policy holder'
Better get it sorted and a bottle of wine for the inconvenience

How can you NOT be covered if they've taken a payment already?? Methinks a letter is required to their complaints department. Here's a good tip, if you do decide to write a letter, ask who their relevant ombudsman is too, that usually gets them off their @rses

DD it is so frustrating. I have tried to sort stuff out before only for them to ask is my husband there. :x
Actually last week when I rang some one......he was in ....he was on a few days hol......I handed him the phone then......he handed me it back.
so that i could ask what I wanted to know
Hope you get sorted soon.
