Children's T-shirt slogans

I visited Gulliver's Kingdom children's theme park today ( yes, I know, what an exciting life I lead   ) While there, I witnessed this:

A quite heavily pregnant woman was shouting aggressively at one of the attendants because he wouldn't allow her on the dodgem bumper cars. The stupid woman had waited in the queue, despite a notice which stated clearly that no pregnant women would be allowed on for health and safety reasons. I don't think she would have fitted in the seats anyway

Her language was terrible, and she caused a real scene. Then I noticed that her two children were wearing t-shirts with slogans on the front. One said,
Beware, I've got an attitude, and I know how to use it, and the other one said
Do not mess with me- you will not win. They looked like two quite sweet kids, but what hope is there for them with a mother like that? I realise that these types of slogans are meant to be amusing, but I think they give out the wrong messages to kids. Is it just me :?: I despair of some parents these days.

I am looking at a picture of my eldest aged about 9 with a T shirt on saying....

I'm much nicer if you give me chocolate

It's the only slogan l ever allowed them to have. I have been against them for some time, but the others have them - they want them and the shops sell them because there is demand.

I too have been shocked by some of the phrases on them...some quite suggestive

I've seen t-shirts for toddlers which say "Wannabe WAG" on them  I would never let my girls wear stuff like this either. My youngest did have a t-shirt which she wore ALL the time because it said "I may be small but I'm the boss" (it was a present.. and it's quite true!).

My 9 year old is very fond of t-shirts with slogans on, but she does find some good ones, like "I'm with the band" and "I'm so gorgeous I amaze myself" :D I think she just likes to make a statement!

What was that pregnant woman thinking? Doesn't she realise the ban on pregnant women was to protect her and her unborn child??? Some people... I do wonder!

    Joan,

Well what can you say, the slogans say it all! The problem seems to lie with the idiotic parents to be honest, they should be allowed to be kids. This mother should be ashamed but the problem is she is probably quite proud of herself and bragging to her friends. Can you imagine if she had gone on the dodgems and hurt the baby!!!!!

Have you seen in the paper today a mother giving a 4 year old a spary tan, what is the world coming to.

Where are the days of climbing trees, making a cardboard box anything you wanted it to be with your imagination ............... xxx

The woman was about six months pregnant, so how she even thought she would fit into the bumper cars I can't imagine. She obviously had no thought for her unborn baby. To hear the way she swore at the attendant in front of her children and everyone else in the queue was shocking. Also, it made me wonder what her language and behaviour were like in private if that was how she behaved in public. To his credit, the attendant handled the situation very well. He remained very calm and just told her that he didn't make the rules. He did tell her to stop swearing in front of children too. I half expected her to say, ''Yes, but no, but yes, but no'' as I'm sure she was Vicky Pollard on a day out

I've seen some awful slogans on T-shirts for children available on the internet, eg. ''Saw it, Wanted it, Threw a tantrum, Got it'', and Girl Racer, Boy Chaser'', ''0 to Naughty in 60 seconds''. Then parents wonder why their kids behave in the way written across their T-shirts

(frog I am much nicer if you give me chocolate too  )

To be honest I haven't taken much notice of childrens tee shirts lately as my daughter is 23. The statements that you have all mentioned are unbelievable.

I have noticed when passing some novelty shops on the coasts that they think it is funny so sell make shift ASBOs. Why is that funny? bad behaviour is not funny.

Hope you enjoyed your day though joan, I have been there many years ago.

on the flip side,we went to legoland, and as i was waiting for oh and daughter to come back from a ride there was two teenage black boys throwing stones in the water of one of the rides, his dad finished his ride and caught them at it and he was furious with them but he didnt shout and swear he spoke to them quietly but in such a way that they hung their heads in shame and he took aside the eldest and spoke to him telling him that as the big brother he should have been more responsible,i was so impressed..why cant more parents behave in this way???????.....i always found making them feel ashamed and guilty for their actions worked much better than yelling,...my children never wore slogan t-shirts ive always found them tacky to be honest i think katies got one with daddys princess but thats her daddies taste lol

Kat, it's nice when you see parents disciplining their children fairly and responsibly like that. If I see someone shouting and yelling at their children, and especially if they are swearing, I always think that they are teaching their children how to behave aggressively. A few years down the line, the children will be aiming their aggression back on the parents and everyone else too.

I very rarely shout at my girls, I find a certain tone of voice does the trick most of the time :D But my girls are generally good (apart from some attitude and bickering amongst themselves sometimes), so I guess I'm one of the lucky ones....

... Says the woman who just put her 7 year old to bed for being naughty. She kicked her 9 year old sister and then, when my 12 year old called out to me, she smacked her for "snitching"!

Oh dear, Nina. Your girls are always so well-behaved when I see them. I can't imagine Jassie being naughty, but all children have their moments ( as do adults too  )

Don't you believe it, Joan, you fell in love with the big brown innocent eyes, she's a lovely little girl, but she's a minx!

No hitting her sisters today - ironically, they never have hit her, I think she does it because she knows they won't retaliate!

Quite a lot, the way things are going  Much as I love my children, I can't imagine still having them living at home. My son returned for about a year after uni, and that was quite enough
