Morning all,
Just reading a few posts on here and it appears a few are having surgery soon.
I have a little tip about the sexy stockings you have to wear post op.
I know they are a real pain to put on,but you may find it easier if you put baby talc on your legs first.
I always did and have put a fair few on as I nursed for 29 years.
When I had my op (not arthur) I had a real fight to get a second pair and even when I did they were far too big and slack and certainly not fit for purpose.
Might not work for you but worth a try.

GREAT idea May.
My MIL lives alone and coldn't take them on and off herself....her daughter did most days and l went over 1 and half hours journey 2/3 times a week to help her with them
Mind better than getting a DVT

Hi l remember the nurse putting mine on with the plastic bag they come from she sort of held the bag against my foot and pulled them on dead easy sorry l cant describe it better lol x0

Hi,
I've never heard of the plastic bag.
We all have our own ways with these things we have to do, mine might not work for everyone but worked for me.
As you say better than a dvt.I never found a way to stop the itching except scratching it!!!

Is this a Uk thing Last year after my THR in Spain heard no mention of these stockings Had injections every day for 30 days anti throbosis but no stockings No Ill effects0

Hi Tonesp,
I have no idea if it is just a uk thing, but I have never known these stockings not used on post op patients.
They are tight hense the problems getting them on, but they are meant to be.
Probably cheaper than anything else. I just know we have used them all my nursing career to eliminate the chance of DVT.
