I have alot RA symptoms, and this is my main suspected form of possible diagnosis, but the last 2 weeks, i have what looks like dry flaky skin which is making my skin split on my toes ( which are swollen at the bottom of the toes) and the top of my feet are swollen below the big toe, second toe area and ankle pain, so I wondered if it was possible to have both forms? If so does anyone here have them and is treatment the same?
Thanks in advance, hope your al having a good weekend

Hi Senna.
Unfortunately I have no idea whether you can both forms of arthritis at the same time, but generally the treatment for both RA and PA are the same. It's definitely worth getting your symptoms checked out though. x0 -
I think that because the symptoms are so similar it would be hard for them to differentiate.
I expect negative Rf rules out the RA and the PA In as would evidence of the P bit, but very complicated
Have you thought about posting this question on the helplines forum??

Morning Senna
I have RA but my understanding is that PA is similar in a lot of respects (although the pattern of joint involvement can be different) and I know that many of the treatments are the same. I think you need to make your rheumatologist aware of the current problems (taking photos is a good idea if there is a chance that the symptoms will have changed before you are able to see someone) because it may well help him to firm up his diagnosis. I have not heard of anyone with both RA and PA, I think it tends to be diagnosed as one or the other.
Thinking of you.

Morning Senna,
I have RA and psoriasis but I don't have PA, which is probably just as well as I've got OA, osteoporosis and hypermobile joints
As I understand from my Rheumy one either has RA or PA they are mutually exclusive, bit like me really
One thing I've discovered is that for me, Meths, Sulfa and Anti tnfs have no impact on the psoriasis whatsoever, however we're all different !0
