Hey everyone, hope ur all okish and a bit painfree today
Just want some advice please, have not been on here in ages to post anything, I do read posts and follow though
I have my DLA appeal 2wks today(monday 19th sept) , starting to work myself up again, even though its gonna be simaler to my ESA appeal in april, which I won that appeal!
However not sure what to expect, is it gonna be the same as the ESA appeal does anyone know? will I find out that day?
When I did appeal the desision on DLA in Sept 2010, my condition was not as bad as it is now, but I have been sending them all the info of my change of conditon etc, do you think this will help?
By the way I have severe osteo arthritis in both hips, left being the worst, and walk with crutches when I do get out, not able to drive anymore , and waiting for a refarrel for podarity and occupational health too.
Many thanks for reading
Lisa

Hi Lisa
Sorry I cant really help, apart from what someone said recently, they behave has if they are your friend, but they watch every move, so please dont forget your worst day ever.
I do wish you good luck with it, and let us know how you get on.Love

Hi lisa
It's not the same as ESA as it's not about your capability for work.
My main advice would be to have someone with you and do not attempt anything which makes you hurt. Get whoever is with you to help you.
Get them to make the tea and the like.
Hopefully someone with more info will be along soon

HI LIsa
I agree with Toni its not the same as DLA as the ESA is about whether you can work and bear in mind they dont necessarily expect you to work at the job you used to. They are assessing you for any type of work so they will see how long can you sit, stand, how easily you get up and down, can you use a PC easily could you use a headset to work in a call centre (as long as you can sit for 10 minutes lol I dont realy know if thats the critwria sitting time just being sarcastic). DLA I had to attend a medical but they signed me on indefinate whereas ESA Im having to be reassessed after previous medicals and job centre interviews that make you feel like something scraped of someones shoe.
Basically they are looking to get you back to work in any job they deem fit so even if you last job is now a pipe dream as far as your health goes they look at what you can do to get you into another more suitable type of job. Isnt that kind They told me its better for me and my mind if Im encouraged to go back to work any kind of work and they dont want me to feel like Im being forgotten about. Aww how lovely and thoughtful. So if you can pick up your bag of the floor or reach above your head there must be a new career choice for you there.
Just be on your guard have someone to do the lifting etc.. make sure its your worst day when you see them and the limitations you face on a worst day.
I have real issue with them as people have mortgages to pay when they took them on they werent ill and didnt expect to get ill. But the insurance only pay out if youre off work not if youre in a lower paid job 2 days a week/month as its all you can manage now. I probably have 2 good days a month where I could probably work half day(not guranteed) and it would cause me considerable pain later for days.
Sorry if this does not make much sense Im in DHC land 8) and a little dopey
Hope things go ok for youThere are many things in life that will catch your eye, but only a few will catch your heart...pursue those. --Michael Nolan
