Hi

Ive been losing weight for my TKR which i will be getting done at Wigan (I live in Kendal) after second opinion....My surgeon and I had discussion and he said if I got down to about 92 kilos, we could move forward and discuss joint replacement surgery.....I was at 110kilos at my heaviest, been dieting, gym, swimming and walks...Have got down to 98kilos...Finding it really hard to get past that dam mark.
Positive thing is that at gym after 12 weeks got measured and have lost 11.5 inches on body (ranges from 4 off waist to 1, 2 off thighs and couple off hips n boobie doos).....I was initially a bit disappointed but told by staff that my body is changing....Couple of people have said to me why dont you send him the report i got from gym so he can see im going in right direction....Should I? What do you guys think? Im not sure, I mean he will see im making progress but still wont probably consider me...But is it worth sending it just for info?

Advice appreciated....

    Hi Elaine,
If it doesnt do any good it certainly wont do any harm......He will see you are determined. He must know that when losing weight people do hit a plateau and stick there and it is very hard to get passed it.
I remember when I first went to Slimming World I was losing weight each week {except the ocassional one when i slipped  } then I hit a weight and couldnt get any lower....but I was encouraged to keep going and evenutally I would get below that weight and I did. Its not easy . I couldnt have kept going without the encouragement of the group

Hi Elaine and sol too

You've done wonderfully well on your diet and exercise regime and deserve a huge pat on the back for all you've achieved.:wink:

Although you've reached a plateau I'm sure with the same determination you'll reach your goal.. :!:

...as to whether to send a report to your surgeon.. certainly can't do any harm  and at least he will know you are serious and really want to be able to have the TKR.. maybe he'll lower the 'goal' ?

whatever you decide.. I think you're a star for being so positive about it

    Iris xx

    ps.. belated Happy Birthday.

    Hi Elaine,
Have you ever had a nosey to see how big the group is? Might not be very big. We have some very big groups round here but others that aren't very big at all. What about a buddy to help you along.......motivate each other or even go to a group together?
I know groups aren't to everyones taste but even one other person either face to face or online......and give each other encouragement.

    Hi Elaine,

You have done really well. I think it is worth sending report. You never know it's only a few kilos out so he may change his mind when he see's what progress you've made.
    Good luck,
    Anita.

Yes maybe you should send them. It shows your commitment and determination to get the knee replacement.
I would be very proud of those statistics. It is common to reach a plateau and also muscle weighs more than fat and you have been exercising a lot recently so you are really losing the fat even if the scales read the same.

    All the best

It is definitely worth sending your progress sheet to the surgeon, Elaine, regarding the gym. He will see you mean business and are really trying. I think that is sometimes good enough for the surgeon to see that even if you have not reached your target or the target he set you there is great improvement.

    Good on you.

    Hi Elaine
Yes I would send to him, he will be made up that someone has listened to what he has said...and it will help next time you see him.
Has for the diet...your body has now got used to it, and gone in to what they call starvation mode....so you need to change your diet to boost your weight loss....have a word with your dietician....

    HI Elaine
well done for the weight loss, on the weight watchers thing my hubby did it on line instad of going to groups its pretty good you can put your own recipe ingredients in then divide it by how many servings you get from it.

Makes you look at food differently. I lost weight on it before, as did my hubby we rarely manged all our points as we eat alot of fruit and veg anyway but it seemed previously I wasnt eating enough sounds stupid but that can make you gaain.

As for the plateau my hubby did that and was gonna give up but after 6 weeks loads just dropped off him and it started dropping again just keep at it.

    much love and best wishes

    Hi

Ive looked at ww online but dont see anything spectacular or different in particular...I do eat loads of fruit n veg every day, consume about 1200 a day..
It just hacks me off when you see bloody Pauline Quirke (500 cals a day all shakes and no real food) and flipping Russell Grant who can lose 10stone (why didnt he do that before for the good of his health and not for stirctly)? Money?? Oh and dont even remind me about Dawn French!! she never has, or ever will be a size 14!!!!GGRRR!!!
