Side effects?

Hello folks, I'm taking morphine, tramadol, diclofenac and all the other usual subjects.
I've noticed I have started slurring and forgetting words. I asked himself if he had noticed and he said yes
I'm also very 'un-cordinated' and having a lot of trouble typing etc. I drop things too.
I'm going to make an appointment and see the GP next week (joy) but I wanted to ask, anyone else finding this as a side effect? (I realise this ammount of goodies is going to have side effects).
Thank you for any replies.

Morphine and tramadol? That's probably why you are having this trouble, they are the same kinda beast, I believe. I do one (liquid oromorph) or the other (tablets of 50mg or 100mg slow release) never both. I think you need to talk to your GP (or whoever is prescribing these for you) - this does not sound right to me, but I am not a doc. Take care. DD

Hi I am having the same problem for a long time , I take oxycontin and oxynorm for break through pain. I thought it was the start of althsiemers (sorry cant spell) but I have read on the internet it happens a lot . I also drop things .I also have trouble with my thyroid and thought it might be that . I thought of asking the doctor but worried they might take me off the meds . I prefere the side effects to the pain . hope you are ok ...............jillyx

    Thank you all.
Jilly - just what I am worried about, that they will decide to fiddle about and I'll end up with something else (I can't stand it without these blooming things & even then it still breaks through).

    Hi
I appreciate you are worried your meds may be stopped but I would definately question this lot.
No wonder you are slurring your words. GP or whoever prescribed them asap.
DD is right. One or the other never both together.I know the pain is bad but you are also saying they don't help much.
I'm no expert but as far as I'm aware Tramadol is one step down from Morphine, but the same thing only stronger.
Please see your GP as soon as you can.I would contact the helpline here and see what they think.
Kindest regards to you and I hope you get this sorted.

    Gosh!!

    Morphine and tramadol!

Maybe not at the same time??

I would be getting this checked out....l slur my words on either of them alone  and you don't want the neighbours thinking you are a secret drinker

You take care and l hope they can sort you out.

    Love

A sudden thought has just struck: are you taking more pain killers than maybe you should (that was the tone of your post) in the hope of gaining a higher level of relief? I don't think it works like that, mousey, please be careful. DD

(I can't stand it without these blooming things & even then it still breaks through).

It always does, mouseymousey. 'Painkiller' is a misnomer. All they ever do is make it more bearable. Learning to live with the pain is the key.

Just to say thanks for the replies. My GP thinks it is the morphine/tramadol & has increased the morphine by another 10mg (so now 70mg per day). He hasn't withdrawn the tramadol, but he hopes the morphine increase will knock out the pain so I will need less of them.
    Hey ho.....
    Thanks again.
