Hiya,

I'm having terrible pain in my toes! My ankles/feet have been bad for a while but now my toes are really sore. It's a constant ache and the joint on my foot is very painful (where the toe meets the foot). It's the toes next to my big toe, the right foot being the worst. They're straight, not bending like the other toes. Anyone else get this?

    Hi Eileen

the toes were feeling left out so decided to join in!!! sorry seriously....

mmm.....difficult to know what to do with them, but in light of the foot hurting anyway l think maybe a referral from the GP to a podiatrist???? Maybe some insoles would help you??

    Love

Morning,I have the same pain as you do and have been referred to the podiatrist who showed me on my x-rays what was happening with my feet,to cut a long story short he told me that just innersoles alone would not help solve the problem as they need to try to get the bones back to their natural position (they slide about due to damage to the bones)hence causing the pain,so i was measured for shoes as well which i am to go for a fitting in oct and the shoes should be ready in nov.He said too many people give up on the shoes as it can be very uncomfortable trying to get the bones back to their normal position.so it looks like a case of grin and bear it ,i will give it a good go at it.my rhummy nurse referred me but i am sure your gp can do it,give it a go.Mig

having a toe replacement op in may I know how bad toe pain is, I had a metal plate and 3 screws put in but due to the plate snapping i had it all removed and am currently waiting for it to heal up and hopefully fuse on its own if not it will mean another op to put the metal work back along with a bone graft, something I am hoping to avoid, you might well need to see the podiatrist for some help, I saw mine yesterday which showed my neuropathy is worse but he was talking about a special shoe being made for me with the inside sculptured to my feet which might help with my toe and the limping apparently they are a nice black shoe with surports in, has anyone else had one of these made???? I suffer with OA and sero negative arthritis and have it in most joints having had a TWR lkast nov and now the toe, I am so hoping to avoid any more ops for a while as I take so long to heal up all to do with my diabetes, I've really had enough of ops and recoverys now, so although my knee is getting badly deformed and painful I need to wait until I even consider another op, the bad toe makes me limp which has also thrown out my hips causing them to ache bad as well, :( michelle

    Hiya magenta
yes I often get severe pain in my toe joints sometimes they spasm and straighten or bend then wont move for hours and I cant walk and the pain is agonising. I just see it as an extention of my RA.

Hi I was just scrolling through these posts as I have severe foot/toe pain and I noticed soraya's post - I can so relate to that! My feet and hands are agony at night, I just think about a sticking then in bucket of ice and imagine i would hear the sizzling!!! I am always hanging my feet out of the bed! I have been finding over the last few nights that the co-codamol aren't helping anymore. I have tried tramadol but they make me feel a bit sick! When I mention my toe pain to the rheumy nurse they seem to think its not connected to my RA, I have had nerve tests done and been put on Amilitrptaline but came off that due to palpiations!
I have also been given inner soles for my shoes during the day but they hurt my feet! I can only wear flip flops or wide flat boots in the winter!
