hi, does anyone have any idea how long i should be wearing the stockings after my operation, hosptial never give me any advice?

You need to check with them, I think the views vary. I wore mine for about a month after my synovectomies, others have had them for longer; timing may well depend on what surgery has been done. Contact your surgeon's secretary and ask her for feedback on this, I think that's the best thing to do. I hope it is all going well for you and that you are feeling OK. DDHave you got the despatches? Take it you mean the compression stockings. I was told 6 weeks after the operation by the ward nurse. Others may have been told different so you may get different times by others on here. It isn't easy taking them off & putting them on again is it, I had to have help from my husband.0

I was told it's for as long as you're going to be very limited with regards to mobility. It's something you probably should have been upon discharge. When do you see your surgeon next? Could you give someone at the hosp a buzz? x0

thanks for replies dont see my surgeon until december, got physo in 2 weeks, so will ask them see f they know then if not i will ring hospital.0

I know you just love them and want to keep wearing them forever don't you
Seriously though you should check make the call and check back.
It varies from trust to trust l think but the idea is until you are mobile again as the rsik of DVT is higher obviously while you are less mobile.
