Hello all,
still feeling a bit dopey from the sedation (as it didn't work at the time). Didn't have a good day, it was really cold in the unit ( I wasn't the only one) keep your coat on cold. The staff weren't very amicable, I know they are busy but if you make the effort to chat surely they should respond. I had the sedation and before it worked I had the scope shoved down my throat, it was awful, I was heaving and felt like I would choke, then when they'd finished it took effect. After half and hour they made me sit up drink some tea and then shoved me out the door, altogether an unpleasant experience. If I hadn't had a positive experience last time I would've been seriously freaked out. The only positive thing is they didn't find anything. I have a sore throat and stomach pains which I didn't get before. I'm seriously fed up. Sorry this isn't a more positive post, but going by last time I though I'd be fine.

Sue x

    Oh Sue
I am fuming for you, why on earth do these people think they can get away with treating you like this,
Surely if they they treat you well and have a chat, then it makes there job easier.
You put a complaint in, I am one that never complains but I just have , and I am still waiting for a reply...you put your feet up and I do hope you get some sleep.
    Take care
    Love

Oh Sue ... what an awful experience
:???: it's totally unacceptable to be treated in such an offhand manner by people paid to support and care for their patients.

I agree you should complain... although it won't make you feel better or lessen the shock of it all...it might make a difference for someone else.

the only 'good' thing to come out of it is that they didn't find anything significant. :!:

Rest and take it easy... and if you're still feeling poorly tomorrow please consider contacting your doc.

    (((hugs)))

    Aw Sue

What a truly awful experience you have had today. It is shocking that you have been treated this way and you must be feeling so miserable. It is good news that nothing was found and I hope you get a good nights sleep and feel much better in the morning. Sending you huge hugs xx

Ouch, you poor love. I would have been so upset. What is the point of sedation if it works when it is all over. :x What a nightmare for you. It is turning my stomach over thinking about it. If you have to have one again, ask to be put to sleep - you can be. Explain to them what went on the last time you had an endoscopy. I would complain and then you have it in writing.

Dear Barbara, if you wrote a letter of complaint and have had no reponse after a reasonable length of time, then send your original letter again with a covering note saying that as you have had no reply you are attaching a copy of your letter. This usually works and a response is received.

    Love

The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.

If you can lay down at night knowing in your heart that you made someone's day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day.

    Hi Sue,

Oh flower do feel for you cus they are so unpleasant... I been told I have to have them every 3 to 4 months and just wish I didn't

They don't treat you very well and for me the forced down by people sitting on me seemed a bit much as well..... It was for the bones and I mean it no sedative and i will not have them! Big baby eh?!

I have to say i never complain no matter what.... I wish I had the gumption to sometimes but i never do so can't help you on what or how but glad some of the others know what you should do.

Hopefully today will help them to treat you and i wonder did they say what was down there at all? I got a print out there and then.. and 3 more conditions i wont have

You rest up flower and I so hope you never have to have another. Cris x

oh Sue love, Matron here, firstly I am very pleased that nothing was found that was amiss.

Second, write to the unit manager, also send a copy to the PALS (patient liason), who help to resolve issues with you.

There is no reason at all, for them not to wait a little while, for the hypnoval to take effect, none whatsoever. The procedure is not the most pleasant in the world and people are often terrified, at this brightly lit scope heading through the mouthpiece and the Dr saying "swallow".

Tell them as it was, how you were treated and how it left you feeling. All complaints have to be responded to and investigated.

They pump carbon dioxide in, while they are viewing your stomach etc, to give a better view. It is better than pumping in air. Most of this is taken out, but some stays and can give you a bloated feeling, which will pass, some lemonade and a good swig of gaviscon.

Sending hugs in abundance. Take care, XXX Bubbles

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the endoscopy, Nanasue. I hope things are a bit easier today.

Once again thank you all for your support. I do feel a lot better today (OH's birthday), daughter took us out for lunch, very nice. Do feel a bit tired again this evening. I'm going to speak to endoscopy unit tomorrow, now I've calmed down. I wasn't in a fit state yesterday and today as it was hubby's b'day didn't want to spoil it, also I would probably have lost my rag, not a good idea, you need to be calm and rational when you deal with this sort of thing to get anywhere. I'll keep you all up to date. Thanks again for support,

    Sue x
