Well i am laying on my bed in hospital with a successful surgery. They went in there to fuse all my midfoot joints but they said the mri scan doesnt show much but when they went in, they found a huge amount of damage,
Im already in less pain even though i have the pain from surgery.
Ive waited so long for this operation but i am so glad ive had it done.
Left is now done, just the recovery, then right foot is being done next year, then i can start living my life and doing my sailing again.
Im one happy 25 year old person apart from not been allowed out of bed!
Thanks everyone for the help and support.

This is good news indeed sailrib, do all the things you are supposed, not so many of things you are not (!) and here's to a rapid recovery. Let us know how you are getting on, yes? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Well, I am home now. Came home a 2 days ago.
So happy to be home.
I had ALL of my midfoot joints bolted together, not too sure if that is called a triple fusion.
Have to stay off it for 2 months and then partial weight bear after that for a month and then I should be able to walk on it. I think I am in a cast for 3 to 4 months as well.
Bit of nightmare trying to do things for myself but it is getting easier.
Had a fall as soon as I got home from hospital due to the dam frame not fitting through my doors as home.
Ended up a a&e the next day as my toes were white so they had to cut the cast off.
Now I am back in a cast and have crutches instead of a frame, life is getting easier.
Next April I shall be having my other foot done as well.

Oh dear, that could have been nasty so I am glad to hear that you are sorted on that front. Otherwise you seem to be OK, yes? Don't be too impatient, healing takes time and make sure you carry on doing all that you should exercise-wise (if any) and resting too. I wish you well. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I seem to have come in late to this, sailrib. I was going to congratulate you & give you the high fives when I then read you'd done your best to mess things up!
I did too about 2 weeks after one of my hips. I intended to cross the room on the computer chair & landed bottom first on the laminate floor. no harm done.
Yours sounds to be going well anyway and being home is always good. You sound very happy and positive. Long may it continue. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I'm really pleased to read this Sailrib. It will be great to get back to sailing again.
I am due a triple fusion on the left foot. I have no definate date as I am concerned about the non-weight bearing issue with a lazy OH and 3 children(2 with special needs). I'm holding on as long as I can.I am encouraged that you have already noticed less pain.

Well done Sailrib. Yes it is a triple fusion. I had one last Oct. Keep it well elevated to avoid swelling. Also, keep ahead of any pain. Hope it all continues to go well for you.Sue (Cloud9)0

Thanks for support People.
Just one question. Today and today only my toes have become purple but when I put my foot up on a stool, the colour goes. I am also getting pins and needles and have a cast on. My mum says its nothing to worry about but I am not sure?

Hi sailrib
I am sorry I seem to have missed this thread.
Well I just want to say I am pleased that the surgery went well and you started to feel the benefit.
But....sorry that you ha the fall on your return home and ended up back in a&e. Do be careful annd as dd says be patient, take it easy and with plenty of rest.
Sorry I cant answer your question, perhaps ringing your doctor would be wise.
Take care

If the purple disappears when you out your foot up then that would indicate to me it's a circulation-type thing (but I am not a doc). As you have recently had surgery I think you should get this checked: perhaps a telephone consultation with your GP would be a starting point, but even better would be to go and see him. I hope that everything else is going OK. Take care. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Thanks for that. Woke up this morning and it is now not going purple but I have an appointment, just in case there is a problem.0
