 Hi , in other posts i mentioned i was admitted into hospital after a fall as my balance gave out, since the i have Labyrinthitis ( inner infection of the ear )
At the docs she said the x rays showed i had Ost of the neck or cervical spondylosis , since fall and with this illness th neck grinds and clicks painfully, doc said this should settle down a little but i would have to see her again she has put me on Dihydrocodiene which helps although the morphine i was given at hospital did the trick but of course not pratical. So any hints or help you can recomend to me . tc all

Hi, i've got cervical spondy as well soooooo
wheat bags warmed in microwave are a godsend
pain killers as and when necessary,
keep your neck mobile- gentle rolling from side to side, move round in a circle. (vary the direction)
The worst thing you can do is keep it still,
a good support pillow, only use one pillow though as it doesn't work as well if you use two.
I think that's about it really
Take care0 -
think a visit with good physio would help do exercises layed down with head suported valval0

Hi
Wheat bags in the micro wave. Pain killers and I was told not to roll my neck round. To move it back ...from a straight position..... tip it back, then from the same position tip forward, then sideways {both sides}
I can really sympathise with you and the labyrinthitis. It is a dread ful thing isnt it? I've only had it once...about a year ago and i hadnt a clue what was wrong but it was dreadful.....apparently some people it lasts for months on end ....mine lasted for about 1 month so lucky in that respect. Have you ever had it before? Someone else told me it could come back but mine never did......sending you very gentle hugs ((((()))))

Hi Paul,
Hope apart from the neck, you are recovering ok?
I think daylilly is right and keep it moving if you can as well as support it a bit with rest in between if its kicking up.
Val also has suggested a physio's help might be worth asking for? They will be able to give you individual exercises based on what is wrong in it.
The more you build up the muscle tone the easier it is for sure.
Like the others I also use heat and have a far bit of intervention from the pain clinic so hang in there and with luck it will calm down and you will be able to get the muscles strong. Cris x0 -
Hi Paul
Poor you
I have the old cervical spond malarky too. Though not as bad as some...
1. PREVENT! I believe in a good pillow (not loads of soft squishy comfy ones!) which is trial and error in finding. Mine is a memory foam one which has a dip in it for your head so the neck stays aligned. Don't do anything for too long which sets it off. Eg computers! (make sure yours is the right height) or holding phone in your neck and shoulder.
2. Painkillers and anti-inflams and l love my wheatbag too just like the others
Hope things settle for you and agree a referral to physio might be a good idea

Hi Paul
I have OA in lots of places, and my neck keeps threatening to seize up...the last time I had phyisio I ask her for exercises for it...and I must say they are beginning to help...although my neck isnt really painful...well not yet
I wish you well with it all, and let us know how you get on..Love

Hi Paul
I've got OA but even with out that the labryinthitis is dreadful.
Even the not able to drive is such a pain. How long have you had it?
It seems to last for varying times with different people.
At least its acute and will go....not like arthur....he stays and stays....we try to lose him...take him on holiday with us and try to leave him there....not chance
Love
