Hi all,
Well I got up this morning,no pain anywhere. Had my breakie and took my dog for a longer walk than usual on the beach.Felt great.I have a steep hill to climb to get back home, just ached a bit but ok.
Had a cup of tea and washed pots.
Then decided to get Henry and hoover.Did all downstairs with Henry,I have a small hoover upstairs to do bedrooms,so did them all, stairs and landing.Polished in spare bedroom and changed bed in there.Nobody had slept in it for a while but I never know when some one might turn up.
The bedding hadn't been used just thought I'd change it as felt ok.
Put washer on for bedding and made a cuppa.I was so pleased with myself.
Sat down with my tea but suddenly found I couldn't lift the cup.
My hand ached and was swollen.Went to take my pain dullers and fell over my own feet onto my knees luckily on the carpet. Couldn't get up for ages as could only use one hand.
By the time I did my back was killing me,knees killing me and I won't mention my hand.
Been asleep all afternoon on sofa. OH always goes out early Monday morning and comes back between 2/3 o'clock.
He told me I'm an idiot but I already knew that.
Rant over.Time for more co co's and will probably go back to sleep.
Hope you are all as well as you can be
May

Ah men, bless 'em. We can always rely on them to say exactly the wrong thing.

I hope you're feeling a bit better by now, May. That must have been a big shock. Having said that........what you did today would have constituted about 2-3 days' work for me. I know how it is when you still feel good after doing a lot and you feel you've got more mileage in you. That's how I knackered my knee earlier this year, just before going to visit my son & his steep steps.

Pacing yourself is everything. Boring, but everything. Rest up now. Whatever you do or don't do, let your oh so sensible OH do the cooking tonight.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

    Hi May
You are no more an idiot than any of the rest of us....I'm sure there isnt one of us that hasnt done exactly the same thing at one time or another. A good day and we think we can make up for what we havent done and go mad  then suffer. I think you really overdid it. I over do it and suffer but could never get through the work that you did......Pace yourself.....I know I know....easier said than done...The sooner that rheumy appt comes round the better.

Stop when you think you can do more. I haven't had a day like that for years and am quite comfortable with the thought I never will again. Bed changing alone takes me half a day, on a good day.

Accepting the limitations this disease imposes is not easy, it is only over time that you will begin to recognise the signs that enough is enough and that it is time to stop. I am supposed to be going to sleep now but the brain is too active (nothing else is, sad to say). Rest up tomorrow, don't stop being active just measure it out in sensible doses. It's a skill that takes time to master but I am sure you will.

Are you an idiot? NO, far from it. Take care. DD

    Hi May,

As sticky says that must have been a bit of a shock for you.

I do the push to the limits and get the payback every day to be honest  I plod along at snails pace doing things that would have taken me half a morning but now takes me a good 6 hours

Do you have a rate for hoovering cus like some of the others would you like to pop down

I really hope you got a good night and feel better today. Cris x

    Morning all,
Well I have slept for 12 hours all in all and now am as stiff as a board.
Not dressed yet. All I have done this morning is make a cup of coffee and let the dog out.
Bedding is still in the washer so will put through a freshen up cycle and OH can hang it out.
He got a chinese last night as he had been busy all day himself.
I will definately be pacing myself from now on.
The stupid thing is my spare bedroom wasn't what I would call a desperate job,but it's done now and may not see me for a while.
I love the sea but if I want to see it today I'll just look out of my bedroom window.
Sorry for the ones that asked but I'm afraid your hoovering will have to wait. All I will be doing today is pottering around so I don't stiffen up.
Yesterday was my normal day today I'm back to normal.
Going in the shower now and getting dressed.
Hope you all have a good day.

    Hi May
All these people asking for your rates for hoovering etc :lol: It would take you no time to come to me....a hop skip and a jump and you are there so not as far to travel  So put me on the list as well
Seriously love.....its hard hitting a happy medium between moving and resting......I found I had a spell where I slept really soundly but i was so sore in the morning.....we cant win
You're just right......take it easy today....potter about to keep yourself from stiffening and thats your lot.
    love

No not an idiot just someone reaching for something that used to be second nature. I myself am avoiding pushing my limits but Im finding it hard. I havent been sleeping so Im not as stiff in the morning and in a little less pain (still bad enough) at the minute as \i am constantlymoving around in bed trying to get comfy since my fall a few weeks ago. The external bruising has gone but my muscles insist its still there. Anyway since Im not stiff I think ooh I can do this and this and ...then I have to stp myself as I know once I stop for a break the stiffness and pain sets in and I can do no more. Its hard though isnt it to stop before you do the damage... needless to say Im on the sofa feeling sorry fo myself
Hope you feel a little better this morning

    Morning again
I've had to talk to myself this morning and its only 11.30am....I dont know how many times I have run up and down the stairs this morning.....when I couldnt manage the stairs well.....I was more organised and things went up in one go rather than up and down for little reason. My back is starting to ache already. It is hard but you do learn to come to a stop, give yourself a talking to and tke it a bit easier......until the next time  if you are like me anyway

    You lovely lot,
Hileena HOP SKIP JUMP no chance today even if you lived round the corner!!!
My OH has been a treasure this morning. He washed breakfast pots and even attempted ironing. He has meals organised and keeps asking if I want a drink.
He did tell me off for pushing myself but didn't call me an idiot again.
I really don't need to hoover as often as I think I do as my dog is a bichon and although she is white this breed don't moult. She hasn't been walkies yet but hubby said he will take her shortly.
I know one of you knows I have family problems at the moment.
My baby sister has been told she has breast cancer last week and they want to remove the breast before 12th October as they don't know if it has spread to her lymph glands. Now I have just found out her 19 year old daughter is pregnant. She is engaged and lives with her boyfriend.
My sister may want to come to me after she has had the op.
It's genetic as I and my 3 daughters all have this gene, but I got ovarian twice.
Total shock with all this going on so will definately be taking it easy as I will be needed in some form or another.
Oh boy I very rarely drink in the house but will be having one or two tonight.
Look I've been moaning again.OH just made another cuppa.
    Sorry for family life story.
Don't know who else to talk to. Thanks for listening.
    Take care everyone

    Hileena,
Sisters daughter being pregnant is ok news but timing is bad as she is obviously worried about her mum.
I think it's more or less expected she will come here after the op.
My other sister and her hubbie have there own business and work long hours.
Bless you but I don't want my OH to think he is not managing and he could do with losing a bit/lot of weight from his waist.
Will be in touch as soon as I here any news. How often do you go to the Metro centre? I normally do my xmas shopping there but prefer Eldon Square.Either is about 60 miles from me.
I'll have to see what happens at the rheumy as I may do it online this year depending on how things are.I know hop, skip jump was a joke.Made me laugh anyway.
    Hope you are ok

Loosely? You can do 'loosely', Hileena??? Congratulations.

May, I hope having your sister over won't tire you too much. I know all hospitals seem to deal with breast cancer differently. When I had it, going on 20 years ago now, the op took no time at all to recover from but the chemo knocked me out for 2-3 days a week. Learn to pace yourself.
