I went to see the physio yesterday with my cranky knee (this is an update)3 years on and still in trouble with it. Well I increased my medication so now taking full whack made little or no difference the physio has given me 3 exercises to do just a repeat of those I had when I had the TKR done she examined my hips and knee and said untill I have my other hip done my knee wont improve. I am asking too much of the knee to cope with the hip problem so I have done myself no favours by putting off going back to the consultant if I had gone back 6months ago I wouldn't be in trouble now. Lesson I learnt don't put off today what you can do today ignorance is not always bliss. :x

I guess this is the good/bad news, wendgro. It's bad that the knee won't improve significantly until the hip's done but good that you now know exactly where you stand (Pardon the expression!) & how to resolve it.
Don't beat yourself up about this. We all make bad decisions for all sorts of reasons and, in my book, trying to avoid an op is quite a sensible reason. OK it didn't pay off this time but a new hip sounds good.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I guess we get so used to living with cranky joints we don't realise the extra damage we could be causing by not getting stuff done. I know from reading on here that people often prefer to delay surgery because of its impact on life but in the long-term that will usually just make a bad thing worse. Get it over and done with has always been my take on things (says she who has to wait 30 months at least for a new knee!) I hope things can be sorted out for you soon, wendgro, get that hip op over and done with so as to help your knee. And I agree with sticky - don't beat yourself up, hindsight is always 20/20 vision. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi Wend
Good to see you
well l suppose at least you now know what has to happen and those exercises will at least keep the knee working.
So then....hip now???

Been doing my exercises as per instructions, they say things will get worse before they get better. Guys it's true didn't realise flexibility costs. At least I will have plenty of time to get the house in order before I have the hip done lets face it, it wont get done after for quite a few months if the last time is anything to go by. If you die and you are cremated do they recycle the metal joints???? (just kidding) Wendy0
