Another set-back for julie47pf

Bless her, she rang the hospital this morning for clarification on her operation date for her neck so that she would know when to stop her methotrexate. She got clarification alright: no operation on the sixth and no possible date mentioned either. One of the reasons for this is that they have no upcoming HDU beds available (given her other physical difficulties an HDU bed is required) She has been told to turn up for the pre-op on the 5th as arranged. She is heartbroken.

Julie, I wish I could do something more than putting on a thread, but for the time being this is is all I can do as I am germ-infested-arthritis-ridden old bag. I send you long-distance hugs and lots of love. DD

    Hi Julie,

    That's so awful, you must be gutted, let down and dismayed.

    I really understand, having been through similar scenarios for similar reasons.

    We know our safety is paramount and understand, but the psychological effect of seesawing emotions takes it toll on any human being. Hope you have plenty of support around you.

    Let's hope they sort out HDU soon after your pre-op date.

    Dear, dear Julie

    I am devasted for you too. How cruel is that to be given both dates verbally and when you phone up to be informed the op date is off. Let's hope that when you have had the pre op assessment there will soon be a bed available with your name on it, along with a bit of notice so that you can get things organised.

    That is such a shame getting your hopes up,not mention all the mental and physical preparation you have to go through, and then so rudely pulling the rug from under your feet.

    I hope you get a definate date soon. Good luckwith the pre-op.

    I'm so sorry, Julie. I guess it does make sense that (a) You need an HDU and (b) They can't always predict when one will be available. It messes you up though and makes it hard for you to plan things. Stay strong. It will happen.
    If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

    You'd have thought they'd had the courtesy to phone you and tell you they had no HDU bed instead of leaving it for you to phone and watch for a non-existent letter. Grrrrrrrrr :evil :evil

    Sorry this one happened but thinking about it because of the HDU thing once you have had the pre-op they might just spring a date on short notice so it might still be soon.

    Thank you to dd for telling you all. Honestly I couldn't type for tears.

    I decided to ring just to confirm that my date was still ok and still going ahead for the 6th because I have the pre op again on the 5th Only to be told it is put back again due to cancelations and beds.

    So....I go for the pre op...That is here in black and white but when my op is, well... shall we have bets :lol:

    I did state my case to her but at the end of the phone call I just said In a weepy voice :oops: (sorry couldn't hold it any longer) Ok, I will either wait for your call or the letter. Thankyou.
    After pulling myself together and getting rid of the headache.....

    I kept myself busy and made some xmas cards :grin:

    Morning gorgeous, I've been thinking about the HDU stuff and have come up with Hugely Deserving 'Uman being who needs a bed in the Happily Daft Unit to make sure she Hourly Develops Urges (towards good health, that is). I am thinking of you. DD

    Today I feel much better and I am not chasing it again, after this 2nd pre op which I am sure will be in capitals on their computer I will leave it to them to contact me. That way there is no disappointment :smile:
