1st Hospital Appt & Test Results - Advice

Hi All
I had my first hospital appt last week and was basically told there's nothing wrong with me. Which is fantastic if true, however I did feel quite guilty afterwards as felt I've been wasting people's time & been moaning for nothing.

They did diagnose flat feet however!

So started to wonder if it's all in my head! But I still get pains etc even when not thinking about it at all so know this has to be caused by something!

Anyway, because typically I didn't have any symptoms on the day or the week or two before, I was told there is nothing for her to see & as I've never had swelling told nothing much to it. But they did do more blood tests & xrays just in case.

Anyway, I phoned dr for results today & said bloods all normal except immunology(I think?) & to keep appt with specialist. Xrays not yet back.

So, I don't have another appt & have no idea what this means. Am I still a big old fraud?! I hope you don't mind me posting as I know there are people on here with serious issues.

Thanks x

    Hi Newtothis

That is so annoying isn't it? Never any swelling or stiffness to see when you get to the specialists  Typical.

Thing is there WAS a problem definitely or you wouldn't have gone to the doctor in the first place would you?

Try not to feel that it's all in your head...the bloods were mostly all negative, but one evidently wasn't.....let them explain this to you at your next appointment

Please don't feel a fraud. Keep keeping notes about what pain, where and for how long. You will get your answers in the end, but it can seem a long road.

    Love an dhugs

    Toni xx

Hi, we have felt a fraud when at docs especially at the beginning, I know I did and often still do!!

Your bloods have clearly shown something, sounds as though itmay be antibodies as immunology deals with the immune system. Keep a note of your symptoms between now and your next appt as it will help.

    Hi and welcome..

Just wanted to reassure you that although bloods and xrays may come back ok this DOES NOT mean it is all in your head..
My bloods and xrays came back ok, had no swelling when i saw rheumy, but i think he could see something wasn't right and sent me for bone scan which showed up inflammatory arthritis..
Please don't give up.. if you are not happy i would seek advice elsewhere and see what they say..
We will all be behind you and support you in any way we can..
Let us know how you get on..

Really appreciate your replies, thank you.

I phoned the hospital this morning to see if a second appt was on it's way to discuss the new results, but they said that I've been discharged.

I now have to go back to Drs and ask to be referred back to the hospital. Seeing as I had to wait 6/7 months for my 1st appt, it could be a while. How typical!

Aw thats just terrible, the waiting around is the worst part. After you are referred again by your doctor, phone the hospital and tell them you are very willing to take a cancellation and phone regularly to see if there is any appointments available. I do this and it works well, I think they get fed up with you and give you an appointment just to get you off their backs. Be persistent  I really hope you get an appointment soon and get everything sorted out. Sending you hugs xx

    Morning All,

I really appreciated your replies last time so hope you don't mind me posting an update & asking your advice....

I went back to the Dr & X-rays came back fine, which is great. I asked about the query on the blood test results but he insisted that all was fine and it was just 'small print' and that I have been discharged by the specialist.

All well & good but I still have the pains. They said it is probably joint hypermobility - I've been given a leaflet & googled it but not too sure if it applies to me. The consultant said I've a little extra movement in a couple of places, which is fair enough & I can touch my toes but I've never even done so much as a backwards roll

I bruise fairly easily but thankfully never had any breaks/sprains before. I'm going to see a physio just to show me some exercises & how to move properly which is good, but I don't really feel this explains the pains etc that I experience.

Anyway, I'd usually just think fair enough & get on with it, but am a little concerned as I've read on here that people often have problems getting diagnosed etc & just wondered what your opinions are? I don't want to keep barking up the wrong tree but equally don't want to dismiss it only to find out way down the line that perhaps it is arthritis related & I haven't had it diagnosed sooner.

Thanks for reading & hope you all have a lovely weekend xx
