I was born and raised on the fairground and would have been at Goose Fair now, we settled when I was about 16 and I then married an Aussie and went back to uni to become a teacher. I don't ride anything but I do really miss home made toffee apples, and always get one if I get the chance. XxAS Sufferer

I used to take my class to the official opening of Goose Fair every year when I worked in Nottingham. One of the children I took there was Jayne Torvill, who was in my class when she was 9 ( crumbs, that dates me :!:  ) The Lord Mayor rang a bell at noon, and then the fair was declared open. We walked all round with over 30 kids, and amazingly, I never lost one
There used to be a ride called the Caterpillar. As it went round, a big cover would come over and you would be in the dark. It was a favourite for all the boys to take their girlfriends on for obvious reasons0 -
I would stay away from fairground rides if I was you Del  much safer in the pub. Depending on which pub though
There are a few in Leeds that I would avoid if I were you, lol...

There's a Goosed fair on in Didcot town centre every weekend at the ye lode Broadways pub and STD drop in centre, it's held every Saturday night just before the olde lights out punching ceremony that can always be viewed from a safe distance around kicking out time, just make sure your up wind though or the pepper spray can make your eyes water.0
