Feeling nervous!

I'm off to meet a new rheumy on Thursday having battled for months to get a transfer as the previous one was overbearing, dismissive and interested in nothing but blood results.
I've had 8 chest infections in 11 months with more antibiotics than I can remember-and he wasn't interested. Because of all the antibiotics I've not had chance to get the RA treatment established and am just so fed up of being in pain, feeling wretched and letting people down by being ill and losing time at work (I teach 5 year olds who seem to delight in sneezing and coughing on me, hence all the infections.) Don't know how to tell the rheumy how I feel without sounding like I'm moaning.
Sorry to go on so, but I've invested so much hope in getting a new consultant and now I'm scared he'll think I'm neurotic or making a fuss-I so need him to help me sort out the meds so that my joints are controlled without my asthma being triggered so often. No one who doesn't live with this wretched disease can understand how it feels to live from day to day not knowing what's going to flare up next, and I know that you lovely folks do so I thought I could share it with you. Besides my lovely supportive husband needs a break from hearing it!
Hope that this is a good day for you all. Blessings.

Hi Deb
I am glad you are going to see a new rhummy person and I hope that he gives you a thorough examination.
Hopefully you will have chest xrays to see what is going on in that department too.
Write down all your symptoms so that you don't forget what you want to ask or tell him. Tell him everything. He will need to know and will not think of you as a moaner.
I hope he can give you the help you need and start you on medication to make you feel better asap.
Sending hugs ((((((())))))

Dear Deb
Of course you are pinning all your hope on this appointment with another rheumi and naturally you will be nervous. Write some notes down or write everything down and let him read it - sometimes that can be easier for you and him. I so wish you well this time around and hope that you two will be able to work together amicably as a team.

Hi Deb,
Im sure your appt with new consultant will go well - positive thinking (always works for me ) just explain everything that's been going on, constant infections, flares etc and that you desperately need help now.
I'll be thinking of you Thursday, please do let us know how you get on?
All the best and a one armed hug (((((( X'grá agus solas'

Hi Deb
Good luck with the appointment with your new rheummy... I'm sure it'll go well.
It's nerve wracking meeting a new doc or rheummy but if you go well prepared and focussed you will get the best from it. :!:
As others have said... make notes to take with you. Your own post above is a good starter.... because I understood from reading it exactly how you are feeling and what you are hoping for from your appointment.

Hi, I just wanted to wish you well with your new appt. We do get our hopes pinned on our appts, it is only natural.
I can imagine that your job does cause constant infections it was a massive factor in me having to give up work, although there were other reasons. Just tell the consultant everything and let him work out how to help you.
I hope it all goes well for you.0 -
So happy that things look set to change for you, for the better. Don't be nervous. We'll be there with you. xxSue (Cloud9)0

Hi Deb,
I just wanted to wish you luck for Thursday, as everyone has said take your notes with you and hand them over to him/her. Other than that I have jogger notes either in my hand or on top of my bag so I can remember.
I changed my rheumy and it was the best thing that I ever did, so take heart.

Good luck with your new rheumy , write down all your joint pains , what you can /cant do , what helps with pain relief etc and how you feel and what the disease has restricted you from doing and leave it with him for your notes, keep a copy yourself , so much easier as you always forget somthing important. He can peruse at leisure and hopefully get a good picture (((()))) Take care Linda0
