Hi everyone, I have just had a phone call to ask me to go for a medical as I have applied for dla. My appointment is the 12th October.

I am really anxious about this as I don't know what to expect. Have any of you lovely people been for the medical and can you give me some advice please.

Thanks Kay.

I have always had my medicals at home. They consist of some bending, touching the floor, balancing one leg that sort of thing. If you can't do anything then make it clear that you will not attempt it, certainly don't try as you do not want to injure yourself and make things worse.

They look to see how presentable you are so make it clear if you needed help with hair care and dressing. They may even ask about how and how far you travelled to the appointment as this can indicate your mobility

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

    Hi there

First of all l suggest to take someone with you.

Elizabeth is right....they are likley to ask some questions about how you got there and be looking at your mobility and other abilities whil they 'do' the medical.

DO NOT attempt stuff that hurts you and be honest about what you can't do. Don't necessarily think of 'good' days when you can do more.

If you kept a copy of your application form, might be an idea to read it before you go.

    Love
